The Gilded Seam: Custom Women’s Stitching

Size guide

Measure once, wear it beautifully

Your measurements are the foundation of a good fit. Here is how to take them at home: about ten minutes with a soft tape measure, ideally with a friend to help.

Before you measure

Wear light, close-fitting clothing. Keep the tape snug but not tight, stand naturally, and measure twice. Centimetres or inches are both fine.

How to measure

  1. 1

    Bust

Around the fullest part of your bust, keeping the tape level under your arms and across your back.

  2. 2

    Waist

Around your natural waist, the narrowest part of your torso, usually just above the belly button.

  3. 3

    Hips

Around the fullest part of your hips and seat, with your feet together.

  4. 4

    Shoulder

Across your back, from the edge of one shoulder to the other, where a seam would sit.

  5. 5

    Armhole (optional)

Around the top of your arm, passing under the armpit and over the shoulder point.

  6. 6

    Sleeve length

From the shoulder point down to where you’d like the sleeve to end, with your arm relaxed.

  7. 7

    Kameez length

From the highest point of your shoulder, next to your neck, down to where you’d like the kameez to end.

  8. 8

    Front neck depth (optional)

From the base of your neck at the shoulder, down to where you’d like the front neckline to sit.

  9. 9

    Trouser length

From your natural waist down the side of your leg to where you’d like the hem to fall.

  10. 10

    Trouser bottom (optional)

Around the hem opening you’d like at the ankle. Measuring a favourite pair of trousers is often easiest.

  11. 11

    Wrist or cuff (optional)

Around your wrist, or wherever your sleeve will end, with enough room to slip your hand through.
