Terms of service

What we do

The Gilded Seam makes made-to-measure women’s clothing. Every garment is made in Pakistan and shipped internationally; we have no shop, studio, fitting service or production anywhere else.

We offer two services. With Fabric + Stitching, we supply the agreed fabric and make the outfit. With Stitching Only, you supply suitable fabric, such as an unstitched suit, and we cut, stitch and finish the outfit. The minimum order is one suit, and we do not offer free samples.

Quotes

Every order is quoted individually and in writing. Customers in the UK are quoted and pay in pounds sterling (GBP). Customers in the USA and Europe choose US dollars (USD), euros (EUR) or pounds sterling (GBP), and the quote is issued in the currency they choose. Your quote sets out the work, the price, the production time and how and when to pay, and it includes delivery and any import charges, as described below. The quote also states how long it remains valid and whether a deposit is required. Work begins only after you approve the quote and any payment it requires has been received.

Measurements and design

We work to the measurements and design details agreed with you in writing before cutting. Please check them carefully, because custom pieces are made for you alone and cannot be resold.

Fabric you send us (Stitching Only)

Before you send fabric or an unstitched suit, contact us to confirm that it is suitable for your design, that there is enough of it, and how to send it. Please do not post anything until we have confirmed these points.

Sending your fabric to us in Pakistan is a separate shipping stage from the delivery of your finished order. You arrange and pay for sending your fabric to us, unless your quote says otherwise. When you send us fabric or images, you confirm you have the right to use them.

Changes and cancellations

Tell us as soon as possible if you want to change something. Changes before cutting are usually straightforward; after that, they may affect the price and production time. Because custom work is made for you alone, whether an order can be cancelled once production has started, and how any deposit is treated, is set out in your written quote.

Production time and delivery

Production time is confirmed in your written quote. Production times are estimates, not guarantees, and we will tell you promptly if anything changes. You pay for delivery: your quote includes the cost of shipping your finished order from Pakistan to the delivery address you give us when your order goes ahead. Risk passes to you on delivery.

Import duties and taxes

Your quote includes any import duties, taxes and customs or courier fees charged at the destination for your finished order. We ship it delivered duty paid, so you have nothing extra to pay when it arrives. If a courier ever asks you for payment on delivery, contact us before paying anything. If something is not right

Check your order as soon as it arrives and contact us promptly, with photos, if anything needs attention. How a fault is dealt with, and any time limit for telling us, is set out in your written quote. Nothing in these terms affects any legal rights you have as a consumer.

Photographs of our work

We may photograph finished pieces for our portfolio. Tell us when you order if you would prefer we did not.
