The Gilded Seam: Custom Women’s Stitching

Delivered to Europe

Made-to-Measure Clothing Delivered Across Europe

The Gilded Seam makes women’s clothing to your own measurements in Pakistan and ships it to customers in Europe, from Dublin to Oslo. You order online, agree every detail in a written quote in euros, US dollars or pounds, as you prefer, and choose whether we supply the fabric or you send your own. That quote includes delivery and any import duties and taxes, so there is nothing extra to pay when your parcel arrives. This page covers what every European order has in common: EU import VAT and the new duty on low-value parcels, the separate rules outside the EU, sending fabric to Pakistan, and what to do if your country has no page of its own.

  • Made in Pakistan
  • Minimum order: one suit
  • Quote in EUR, USD or GBP

9 country guides

Choose your country

Each guide covers sending fabric from there, sizes, local customs rules (the charges are included in your quote) and the words people search for.

Your country isn’t listed? Choose “Another European country” on the quote form, and we’ll confirm whether we can deliver there before you order anything.

How ordering from Europe works

Every garment is made in Pakistan and shipped internationally to your address. There is no shop, studio or measuring service anywhere in Europe, so everything is arranged online: you send your measurements, design images and notes on the quote form, and the design details and measurements are agreed with you in writing before anything is cut. Centimetres suit a European tape measure, though inches are accepted too. The size guide shows where each measurement is taken, and UK, EU and US dress sizes for a kameez explains why a label such as 38 or 40 is no substitute for your own numbers.

You can order in one of two ways. With Fabric + Stitching, we supply the agreed fabric and make the outfit, so the only parcel is the finished garment coming to you. With Stitching Only, you supply suitable fabric, such as an unstitched suit, and we cut, stitch and finish it. The custom stitching overview shows what we make, from three-piece shalwar kameez and kurtas to co-ords and Western pieces.

The minimum order is one suit, and there are no free samples, so the fabric, cut and finishing are agreed through your photos, notes and written quote. Wherever you live in Europe, you choose whether your quote is written in euros (EUR), US dollars (USD) or pounds sterling (GBP), and the same quote confirms the production time and shipping costs and explains how to pay. Sweden, Norway and Denmark do not use the euro, so customers there choose from the same three currencies, and their bank converts the payment if their account is in another currency. Our guide to what your written quote includes and the how it works page go through each step.

EU import VAT and the new duty on low-value parcels

Your outfit is shipped from Pakistan, which is outside the EU, so EU import rules apply when it arrives in an EU country such as Ireland, France or Germany. The European Commission’s guidance on low-value consignments explains that since 1 July 2021 all goods imported into the EU are subject to VAT, and that it is paid either through the seller’s registration in the EU’s IOSS scheme or when the parcel is imported.

From 1 July 2026, the EU also applies a temporary customs duty of €3 for each category of goods on low-value consignments (up to €150) from outside the EU, until 1 July 2028, and the previous €150 duty exemption has been abolished. The Commission’s announcement and the Council’s decision set out the change.

These are the rules for parcels from outside the EU, and with us they are already covered: your written quote includes delivery and any import VAT, the flat EU duty and courier handling fees, so there is nothing extra to pay when your parcel arrives. If a courier ever asks you for payment on delivery, contact us before paying anything. We do not quote other rates or thresholds, and we cannot give tax advice. Our guide to ordering from Europe covers customs and delivery in more detail.

Outside the EU: Norway, Switzerland and the UK

Norway is not in the EU, so the EU rules above do not apply there. Norway’s customs service, Tolletaten, says that import VAT applies to goods from abroad, that clothing is one of the few goods subject to customs duty, and that carriers normally charge a customs-handling fee. With us, all of these are included in your quote, and the Norway page covers ordering from there.

Switzerland is also outside the EU and has its own customs rules, which we do not set out here. If you live in Switzerland, please ask us before you order: choose “Another European country” on the quote form, tell us you are in Switzerland, and we confirm whether we can deliver before anything goes ahead. If we can, your quote includes delivery and any Swiss import charges, as it does for every destination.

The UK has its own import rules too, explained on the UK page. Wherever you live, inside the EU or outside it, your written quote includes delivery and any import duties, taxes and customs or courier fees at your destination, so there is nothing extra to pay when your parcel arrives.

Sending fabric from Europe to Pakistan

Stitching Only involves two separate shipping stages. First, your fabric travels from your country to us in Pakistan; later, your finished outfit is shipped from Pakistan to your address. Each stage is its own international shipment.

Please do not post anything until we have agreed the details. Send daylight photos of each piece with your quote request, and we confirm that the fabric is suitable, that there is enough of it for your design, and how to send it. Our guides to photographing fabric for a quote and how much fabric a three-piece suit needs help with that first step.

Once the fabric, quantity and arrangements are confirmed, use a tracked international service and describe the contents accurately on the customs declaration; how to post your fabric for stitching walks through the paperwork. If you would rather skip the first stage entirely, choose Fabric + Stitching and only the finished outfit travels.

If your country does not have its own page

Several European countries have their own page with local detail on sending fabric, import charges and sizes, such as the Netherlands, Spain and Sweden. If yours is not one of them, choose “Another European country” on the quote form and tell us where you live. We confirm whether we can deliver to your country before you order.

The first enquiry needs only your name, email, country, city, the garment, quantity, service option, design images and notes; your full delivery address is only needed once the order goes ahead. If we can deliver to you, ordering works exactly as described above, with your measurements agreed in writing and production time and shipping costs set out in your quote.

Two ways to order

Our fabric, or yours

Both are made to your measurements. The minimum order is one suit, and we don’t offer free samples.

    • Fabric agreed with you before cutting
    • Minimum order one suit
    • No need to send anything
  • Stitching Only

You supply suitable fabric, such as an unstitched suit, and we cut, stitch and finish it.

    • Two shipping stages: your fabric to us in Pakistan, then the outfit to you
    • Confirm suitability and quantity before sending
    • Minimum order one suit

FAQ

Ordering from Europe

Also delivering to the UK and the USA.

Do you have a shop or studio anywhere in Europe?

No. We have no shop, studio or measuring service anywhere in Europe. Everything is ordered online, made in Pakistan to the measurements you send, and shipped to your address.

Will I pay import charges when my order arrives in the EU?

No. All goods imported into the EU are subject to VAT, and from 1 July 2026 a temporary flat customs duty also applies to low-value parcels from outside the EU, but your written quote already includes these, along with delivery and any courier handling fees, so there is nothing extra to pay when your parcel arrives.

Are quotes in euros?

Yes, if you prefer. Wherever you live in Europe, you can choose euros (EUR), US dollars (USD) or pounds sterling (GBP), and your quote is written in that currency. Production time, shipping costs and how to pay are set out in the same written quote, so you see them before you decide.

Can I send my own fabric from Europe?

Yes, subject to fabric suitability and sufficient quantity. This is Stitching Only, and sending your fabric to Pakistan and receiving the finished garment are two separate shipping stages. Please confirm the fabric, quantity and arrangements with us before you post anything.

Do you deliver to Switzerland?

Please ask us before you order. Switzerland is outside the EU and has its own customs rules, so choose “Another European country” on the quote form, tell us you are in Switzerland, and we confirm whether we can deliver before anything goes ahead. If we can, your quote includes delivery and any Swiss import charges.

My country does not have its own page. Can I still order?

Please check with us first. Choose “Another European country” on the quote form and tell us where you live, and we confirm whether we can deliver there before you order.
