The Gilded Seam: Custom Women’s Stitching

Shirts, shalwar and trousers

Custom Shirts, Shalwar and Trousers, On Their Own or as a Set

Sometimes you only need one piece: a kameez to wear with trousers you already love, a shalwar to replace one that has worn out, or trousers that are finally the right length. We make women’s shirts and kameez, shalwar and trousers to your measurements in Pakistan, ordered separately or together as a matching set, plain or embroidered. Send a reference photo or describe what you want. One piece is enough, and your written quote confirms the design, measurements and total before we make anything.

  • Single pieces welcome
  • Full payment in advance
  • 5 to 7 working days to make, then shipping
  • Made in Pakistan, delivered worldwide

At a glance

What you can order
Women’s shirts and kameez, shalwar and trousers made to your measurements, ordered as single pieces or as a matching set, plain or embroidered. One piece is enough.
What you can customise
For shirts: neckline, sleeves, length, cut, side slits and lining. For shalwar and trousers: the style, leg width, length and ankle opening. Embroidery on either.
Fabric: ours or yours
Either. We supply fabric agreed from photos and descriptions, or you send your own once we have confirmed it suits the piece and there is enough.
Measurements and approval
Shirt: bust, waist, hip, shoulder, sleeve, armhole or upper arm, and length. Shalwar or trousers: waist, hip, thigh, length and ankle opening. Body or garment measurements, labelled.
What your quote includes
One written total for exactly the pieces listed, the fabric if we supply it, any embroidery or lining, and delivery to your address with any import duties and taxes.
What may cost extra
Nothing on arrival. Extra pieces or changes after approval are priced with you first. With your own fabric, you pay to send it to us in Pakistan.
Production and delivery
5 to 7 working days to make, from approval and full payment (with your own fabric, from it reaching us). Courier transit time is added and depends on your country.

What we do

From the everyday to the extraordinary

  • A shirt or kameez on its own

Short shirts, long kameez and tunic-length tops, with the neckline, sleeves and length you choose.

  • A shalwar on its own

A traditional shalwar cut to your waist, hip and length, with the fullness and ankle finish you prefer.

  • Trousers on their own

Straight trousers, cigarette pants, palazzo or churidar, cut to your measurements rather than a size chart.

  • Matching sets

A shirt and trousers cut from the same fabric, or in colours chosen to go together.

  • Embroidered shirts

Work on the neckline, front panel, sleeves or hem of the shirt, planned with the cut.

  • Embroidered trousers and shalwar

A border on the hem or a motif up the side of the leg, on its own or matching the shirt.

The details

Custom shirts and trousers explained

What you can order and change

Order any of these on its own or together: a shirt or kameez, a shalwar, or trousers. For the full suit with a dupatta, see custom shalwar kameez.

  • Shirt or kameez: neckline, sleeves, length from the waist to the calf, a straight or A-line cut, side slits and lining.
  • Shalwar: how full the leg is, the length, and how the ankle is finished. See the shalwar guide.
  • Trousers: straight trousers, cigarette pants, palazzo or churidar. See trouser styles.
  • Matching: the same fabric for every piece, or colours chosen to go together. Colours can look slightly different on screen, so when you match a piece you already own, a small difference in shade is possible.

Measurements for shirts, shalwar and trousers

Each garment needs its own measurements. Send body measurements, taken around you, or garment measurements, taken from a shirt or trousers you own that fit well. Both are accepted, but label each set as body or garment and keep them apart, because garment measurements already include room to move.

The size guide shows each point, and body vs garment measurements explains the difference.

  • Shirt or kameez: bust, waist, hip, shoulder, sleeve length, armhole or upper arm, and the length you want.
  • Shalwar or trousers: waist, hip, thigh, length from waist to ankle, and ankle opening.
  • From a garment you own: lay it flat, measure straight across, and tell us the figures are flat garment measurements.

Fabric and construction

Trousers take more wear than a shirt, so a firmer fabric such as cambric or khaddar suits them well, while lawn and linen make cool summer shirts. A palazzo needs fabric with some drape; cigarette pants need one that keeps its shape.

If you send your own fabric for a single piece, send photos and its length first so we can confirm there is enough. A shalwar takes more fabric than people expect, because of its wide panels.

Embroidered shirts and embroidered trousers

On shirts, embroidery usually goes on the neckline, the front panel, the sleeves or the hem. On trousers and shalwar it sits on the hem or runs up the side of the leg. We do hand embroidery, machine embroidery, zari, beadwork and sequins; which suits your piece depends on the fabric, how it is made, how dense the design is and where it sits, and we confirm it in the quote.

A trouser hem can be embroidered to go with a shirt you already have: send a clear photo of it. For embroidery on its own, see custom embroidery.

How pricing works

Each piece is quoted on its own, or together if you order a set. The price depends on the garment, the fabric, the cut and any embroidery. There is no price list for custom pieces.

Your quote includes delivery to your address and any import duties, taxes and customs or courier fees. You pay the full amount in advance once you approve it, by bank transfer, Wise or a card payment link.

Making time and delivery

A single shirt, shalwar or pair of trousers takes the same 5 to 7 working days as a full set, counted from approval and full payment, or from your fabric reaching us with Stitching Only. Courier transit time is extra and depends on where you live; there are no guaranteed delivery dates.

The delivery cost is calculated for your parcel and destination and shown in your quote, import charges included.

From a photo

A photo of a shirt or trousers you like tells us the style; your measurements tell us the fit. We combine the two, agree the details in writing and make the piece to that agreed design. It takes its look from the photo, but it is not promised as an exact replica, because fabric and measurements change how any garment looks.

FAQ

Custom shirts and trousers questions

Can I order just a shalwar or just trousers?

Yes. A single shalwar or pair of trousers is a normal order, cut to your measurements. You do not need to order a shirt with it.

Can I order a shirt to wear with trousers I already have?

Yes. Send a photo of the trousers so we can suggest a fabric and colour to go with them. Colours can look slightly different on screen, so a small difference in shade is possible.

Which measurements do you need for trousers?

Waist, hip, thigh, the length from waist to ankle, and the ankle opening. Tell us whether they are body measurements or taken from trousers you own.

Can you take measurements from a shirt that fits me well?

Yes. Measure a shirt you own that fits well and label the numbers as garment measurements, or send body measurements instead. Please do not mix the two.

Can I have embroidery on the trousers only?

Yes. Embroidered trousers, or a shalwar with an embroidered hem, can be ordered on their own or matched to a shirt. We confirm the method and placement in your quote.

How long does a single piece take?

We make it in 5 to 7 working days from approval and full payment, or from your fabric reaching us if you send your own. Courier transit time is added.

Do you make men’s shirts or trousers?

No. We make women’s clothing only, and we do not make menswear or childrenswear.

Can I change or cancel my order?

Yes, before cutting. Anything can change before you approve your quote, and small changes before cutting are usually straightforward. If you cancel after paying, tell us straight away. Before your fabric is cut, we refund what you paid, minus the cost of any fabric we have already bought for your order. With Stitching Only the fabric is yours, so nothing is taken off for it. Once cutting has started, the piece is being made for you alone, so cancelling at that stage is not refunded.

What if something isn’t right?

If your outfit doesn’t match the measurements or design agreed in your quote, that’s our mistake to put right: we correct it or remake it without charging for the work. Tell us within 7 days of your parcel arriving, with photos. You pay the postage to send it back to us and for the corrected piece to come back to you. Because every piece is made to the measurements and design agreed in writing, please check those carefully before you approve your quote.
