Choosing your quote currency, country by country
Which currency your quote can be in: pounds in the UK, a choice of dollars, euros or pounds in the USA, Europe and the Gulf, and an agreed currency elsewhere.
InspirationThe rule by region
Your quote currency depends on where you live. In the UK, quotes and payment are in pounds sterling (GBP). In the USA, in Europe and in five Gulf countries (the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait and Bahrain), you choose US dollars (USD), euros (EUR) or pounds sterling (GBP), and the written quote is issued in that currency. Everywhere else, including Oman, Canada and Australia, the currency is agreed with you when you enquire. Once your quote is issued, the total is fixed in that currency, including delivery and any import charges.
In the Gulf
If you live in the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait or Bahrain, you have the same three choices as customers in the USA and Europe. Many people in the Gulf pick US dollars, because the UAE dirham, the Saudi and Qatari riyals and the Bahraini dinar are pegged to the dollar, which keeps the figure in your own money steady between quote and payment. Others pick pounds or euros because they hold savings or an account in that currency.
If you are in Jeddah and your salary is paid in riyals, dollars are often the simplest. If you moved from the UK and still keep a sterling account, pounds may suit you better. Tell us which you prefer when you ask for a quote, and the customisation page for Bahrain shows how ordering works there.
In Europe, inside and outside the euro
In the euro area, euros are the obvious choice for most people, though you can still choose dollars or pounds. In European countries with their own currency, such as Switzerland, Sweden, Norway, Denmark and Poland, none of the three is your home currency, so whichever you choose will be converted. Compare what your bank, card or a transfer service such as Wise would charge for each, and pick the one that costs you least.
Countries where the currency is agreed
For deliveries outside the UK, the USA, Europe and those five Gulf countries, the quote currency is agreed with you per enquiry. That includes Oman, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Malaysia, Singapore, Hong Kong, South Africa and Kenya, and any other country you want us to deliver to. Say on the quote form which currency you would prefer, and it is settled with you before your written quote is issued, so there is no surprise when it arrives.
Prices you see on design pages
On our design pages, prices are set in pounds. To help, the page also shows an approximate figure in your own currency, worked out from your browser’s time zone and a daily exchange rate and rounded to whole units, with the pound price beside it. That figure is a guide only. Your quote is issued in the currency confirmed with you, and the amount on the quote is the one you pay.
Picking well: three questions
- What currency is your money in? Paying from an account in the same currency avoids a conversion altogether.
- If you must convert, who gives the better rate? Banks, cards and transfer services differ, and some add a fee for foreign-currency payments.
- When will you pay? If your money is in another currency, exchange rates move daily, so check the figure on the day you pay rather than the day the quote arrives.
Next steps
Our guide to paying from abroad in pounds, euros or dollars goes deeper into conversion fees, and the custom stitching service explains what we make. If you are in Oman or another country where the currency is agreed, start with the quote form for Oman or the general quote form and note your preferred currency.
Common questions
Can I pay in dirhams or riyals?
Customers in the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait and Bahrain choose US dollars, euros or pounds for their quote. Your bank or card converts the amount if your account is in another currency.
I live in Canada. Which currency will my quote be in?
For Canada, as for other countries outside the UK, the USA, Europe and the five Gulf countries, the quote currency is agreed with you when you enquire.
Can I change currency after my quote is issued?
Choose before your quote is issued if you can. Once you approve it, the total is fixed in that currency.
