Ordering a single piece: one kurta, trousers or a dress

Good reasons to order just one piece

• A first order: see how made to measure works for you before planning a season’s worth.
• A work kurta: one well-cut kurta in a plain fabric you can wear with trousers you already own.
• New trousers for a kameez you love: the original trousers have worn out, or never sat right.
• A Western piece: a dress, skirt or top cut to your measurements rather than a size.
• An abaya: made to measure, in our fabric or yours.

Measurements for the piece you want

Only the measurements that matter for your piece are needed, although a full set does no harm. For a top or kurta, the essentials are bust, waist, hips, shoulder, armhole, sleeve length and the length you want. For trousers, think waist, hips, the rise, the length and the width at the ankle; our trouser measuring guide shows each one. For a dress or an abaya, the length from shoulder to hem matters as much as the width measurements.

Matching a piece you already own

A common single order is a new piece to go with something you have, such as trousers or a dupatta for an existing kameez. We do not alter clothes you own, but we can make a new piece to go with them. Colour matching from a screen is uncertain, because colours look different under different lights and on different screens, so if the match matters, the surest way is to send fabric you have already matched in person, through Stitching Only. Send a photo of the existing outfit too, so the style suits it.

Our designs as single pieces

Some of our own designs are single pieces already. The shirt dress and the tiered maxi dress are each available in sizes S to XL or made to measure, and their pages show the colours. Browse all our designs for others, and if you would like a change to one of them, ask for it in your quote.

How ordering one piece works

The steps are the same as for any order, just shorter to describe.

• Enquire: say the garment is a single piece, choose Fabric + Stitching or Stitching Only, and add a design photo.
• Agree the details: measurements and design are confirmed in writing.
• Approve and pay: the written quote shows one total, including delivery and any import charges.
• Making and shipping: 5 to 7 working days of making, then shipping time to you, which varies by destination.
