Unlike the open styles, this abaya closes. The round neck has a short slit at the front, and from the bust down the body widens into an A-line, so it skims the hips and leaves room to walk without looking loose.
Because it follows you more closely, measurements matter more here than on a butterfly or kimono. Shoulders, bust and sleeve length are the ones to get right. You can send body measurements or measure an abaya that already sits well on you; just label which they are.
It is a good pick for work, university and anywhere you want to look put together, and the flare at the wrist gives it a softer finish than a plain straight sleeve.

The embroidery runs down the neck opening and onto the flared part of each sleeve, so it gathers at the two places the eye goes first: your face and your hands. At the back there is a single matching motif at the centre, just below the neck, which keeps the back clean.
The bell swings whenever you move your hands, so embroidery there catches the light. Machine work keeps the pearl grey lattice and the burgundy arabesque sharp along the edge; hand work gives the irises and magnolias a softer, slightly raised look. Either one, or a mix of the two, costs the same.

The sleeve follows the arm and only flares from the forearm, so your hands stay free, but the opening at the wrist is wide. That matters at the sink, near the hob and when you make wudu. If you want the look with less to manage, ask for less flare: the sleeve keeps its shape, with a narrower bell.
For fabric, crepe holds the A-line and makes the bell stand away from the wrist in a clean shape. Nida gives a softer flare and is the easiest to look after day to day. Chiffon makes the sleeve flutter and is the dressiest of the three, though it is slightly sheer, so ask for a lining.

Pearl grey lattice and black jasmine are the plainest for an office. Olive branch and taupe acacia are relaxed colours for every day. For a family dinner or a weekend visit, look at the dusty mauve rosebud or the navy iris, and for Eid at the chocolate palm arc, burgundy arabesque, deep teal wave or ivory magnolia.
Every design comes with a matching scarf. If you would prefer a closed round neck with no slit, say so when you ask for a quote and it is written into the order.
