There are no pleats, capes or flared sleeves here. The body falls straight to the floor, the sleeves are straight, and the shawl collar gives the front opening a finished edge in the way a lapel does on a long coat. It looks neat over wide trousers and a blouse, a plain dress or a long kameez.
Because it is open, it goes on and off in seconds, which helps if you move between a chilly air-conditioned office and the heat outside in Dubai, or from a warm building into a British winter street. Three-quarter sleeves are an option if you would like the cuff to sit clear of a desk or keyboard.

Nida is softer and matte, easy to look after and still holds the straight line, so it is the sensible choice for an abaya you will wear most days. Chiffon makes a lighter, more fluid version for evenings, but the collar will be softer and the fabric is slightly sheer, so add a lining if you want more cover.
