Your own numbers, not the nearest size

A shop size is built on one fixed set of proportions. Choose the size that matches your bust and the hips or sleeves may pull; choose the one that matches your hips and the shoulders can hang loose. Made to measure gets round that. Each suit on this page can be cut to your own bust, waist, hip, upper arm and length measurements, so the kameez and the trousers are drafted for you rather than adjusted from a chart.

It does not cost more. Ordering to your measurements is the same price as choosing a size from S to XL on these designs. If you also change the design, say by adding a lining, any difference is shown in your written quote and you see the total before you pay. The measurements that matter most

For the kameez, the bust, waist and hip set the width of the body. The hip deserves more care than people expect, because a straight kameez has to pass over it without pulling across the front or riding up when you sit. The upper arm sets the sleeve: measure it at the fullest point and say how much room you like, since a sleeve that looks neat when you stand still can feel tight when you reach forward.

For the trousers, send your waist, hip, thigh and the length from waist to ankle. Then tell us how you like clothes to sit, close, regular or relaxed. Choices that change how a suit feels to wear

Comfort comes from more than the numbers. The ten two-piece suits are drawn as a straight kameez below the knee, and you can ask for it longer or shorter, or ask about an A-line cut that widens from the underarm towards the hem. Sleeves can be cut wider through the upper arm, or switched between full and three-quarter. Trousers can stay straight or change to wide palazzos, cigarette trousers or a fuller shalwar. Side slits can be asked for, or made longer, for easier walking and sitting, and a lining can go under the kameez if you want it less see-through. Each change goes in the changes box on the order form and is confirmed in writing before cutting.

Using a garment that fits as your guide

If you own a kameez or kurta that already sits right on you, it is often the simplest place to start. Lay it flat, measure it at home and mark every number as a garment measurement, or choose “Send a garment that fits” on the quote form. Posting a garment adds a shipping stage before your suit is made, so measuring it at home is quicker if you can do it carefully. Either way, the numbers are checked with you before cutting. Making takes 5 to 7 working days once the quote is approved and paid in full, with shipping time to your country added, and delivery plus any import duties and taxes are in the quote.
