Plus-size Pakistani suits in the UK, made to measure
Why ready-made Pakistani suits often fail plus-size shoppers in the UK, the measurements that matter, brand-pack fabric limits and what to ask for when you order.
InspirationWhy made to measure suits plus-size shoppers
Plus-size Pakistani suits made to measure are cut from your own bust, waist, hip, upper arm and shoulder measurements, so the outfit follows your shape rather than a size chart that was drawn for someone else. For many UK shoppers that is the difference between a suit that sits comfortably and one that pulls across the arms or rides up at the hip. Ready-made ranges often stop at XL or XXL, and an unstitched pack may not contain enough fabric for a generous cut. Ordering to your measurements solves both, from a single outfit.
Why sizing up rarely works
When a brand grades a design to bigger sizes, it usually adds a little to every measurement at once. If your bust is a 2XL but your shoulders are an M, the bigger size gives you room at the bust and also wide shoulders, deep armholes and sleeves that hang past your wrist. Altering that afterwards is fiddly, and some of it cannot be undone.
Made to measure treats each measurement separately. Your shoulders can be narrow while your upper arms and hips have the room they need, and the length can suit your height rather than the size label.
The measurements that matter most
Take these carefully, ideally with someone helping, and note anything you know about how you like clothes to sit.
- Full bust and upper bust: the gap between them helps shape the front without making the shoulders too wide.
- Upper arm at its widest: the measurement most often missed, and the main reason ready-made sleeves feel tight.
- Waist and tummy: measure where you are fullest as well as your natural waist if they differ.
- Hip at its widest: so side slits sit flat instead of pulling open.
- Shoulder width and kameez length: the frame the rest of the outfit hangs from.
- Thigh and trouser length: for straight trousers or cigarette pants that sit smoothly.
Brand packs and fabric quantity
Unstitched packs are cut for a standard range of sizes. With larger measurements, the shirt piece may be too narrow for the cut you want, particularly for an A-line or flared kameez, and an embroidered front panel cannot be made wider. Check the pack lengths and the fabric width before you buy, and send us photos before posting anything, so we can confirm whether there is enough.
If a pack is short, there are usually options, such as adding a plain panel at the sides, using contrast sleeves or choosing a straighter cut; our guide to a suit that is short of fabric explains them. Or choose Fabric + Stitching, where we supply the agreed fabric in the quantity your design needs.
Cuts and details worth asking for
Everyone has their own preferences, but these details come up again and again in plus-size orders.
- An [A-line kameez](/styles/cuts/a-line-kameez) that skims the hip and moves well when you walk.
- A [V-neck](/styles/necklines/v-neck) or round neck with a slit, which lengthens the neckline.
- Sleeves with ease at the upper arm, in a length you choose rather than one fixed by a chart.
- Side slits placed a little higher, so the kameez does not pull when you sit.
- Trousers with an elasticated or drawstring waist, which many find more comfortable than a fixed band.
- Lining that does not add bulk, in a fine cotton rather than a heavy satin.
Ordering from the UK
Wherever you are, from Coventry to Nottingham, the steps are the same. Use the size guide to check where each measurement is taken, write your notes in plain words (“roomier at the upper arm”, “longer at the back”), and request a Fabric + Stitching quote or send your own suit through Stitching Only.
Every measurement the outfit will be cut to appears in your written quote, in pounds, for you to check before you pay. Production takes 5 to 7 working days from approval and full payment, and shipping to your UK address comes on top. The UK page covers delivery and import charges, which are already included in the quote.
Common questions
Do you make Pakistani suits in larger sizes?
Every outfit is made to your own measurements, so there is no size range to run out of. Give us your measurements and any notes about how you like the fit, and they are agreed in your written quote before cutting.
Will my unstitched suit have enough fabric for a larger size?
Sometimes not, especially for flared cuts. Send photos and the length of each piece before posting it, and we confirm whether there is enough fabric for your design or suggest changes.
Which measurement do people most often forget?
The upper arm at its widest point. Without it, sleeves are cut from a standard ratio and can feel tight, so measure it carefully and add it to your notes.
