Ordering an outfit for a relative in another country
Want to order clothes for your mother abroad? Who measures, who approves the quote, and why her country sets the delivery and import charges, with what to confirm.

You can order a made-to-measure outfit for a relative who lives in another country. Before you start, settle three things: who takes her measurements, who approves and pays the quote, and where the parcel is going. The third matters more than people expect, because delivery and import charges depend on her country, not yours.
Who measures
Her body is the one that counts, so the numbers have to come from her side. The easiest arrangement is for her to measure with someone helping, following a clear guide such as how to measure for a shalwar kameez. If she lives alone, measuring yourself without help explains a method that works. A kameez she already likes is another good source of numbers.
Ask her to write the figures down herself and send them to you as text, with the unit beside them. Numbers repeated over a phone call are where errors creep in.
Who approves the quote
Usually the person paying places the order and approves the written quote. That is fine, but the quote includes her measurements and every design detail, and she is the one who knows whether a sleeve length or neckline is right for her. Forward the summary to her before approving. A two-minute check at that stage is worth far more than a phone call after the parcel lands.
Payment is in full in advance by bank transfer, Wise or a card payment link. If you will pay while she receives the outfit, or you live in different countries, say so in your enquiry and ask which currency your quote will be issued in.
Her country sets the delivery side
The written quote includes delivery to the address and any import duties, taxes and customs or courier fees at the destination, so the destination country is what shapes that part of the total. Give her country and city when you enquire, not your own. One limit to know: we do not ship within Pakistan at present, so a relative living there cannot be sent an order.
Questions to confirm in your quote
These details are easy to settle at the start and awkward to fix later. Raise them in your enquiry and we confirm each one in the written quote:
- the order in your name, with delivery to her address;
- whose phone number and email go on the parcel for the courier;
- the currency of the quote, if you and she live in different countries;
- whether she or you will be the contact for questions about measurements;
- who checks the outfit when it arrives.
After it arrives
Ask her to try it on soon. If something does not match the agreed measurements or design, it has to be reported no later than 7 days after delivery; we then correct or remake it without charging for the work, and the postage both ways is paid by the customer. Common questions
Can the outfit be a surprise if she has to measure herself?
Partly. She will know something is being made, but the design, colour and occasion can still be your choice. If you want a full surprise, measuring a garment she already wears is the quieter route.
Can I pay in my currency when she lives somewhere else?
Ask when you enquire. UK quotes are in pounds, customers in several other regions choose dollars, euros or pounds, and elsewhere the currency is agreed per enquiry, so we confirm it in your written quote.
Who should report a problem, me or her?
Agree that before ordering, and ask us at the quote stage who we should hear from. Whoever it is, the report has to reach us no later than 7 days after delivery, so make sure she looks the outfit over as soon as it arrives.
