What to look for in your written quote
A checklist for your stitching quote: the itemised price and its currency, delivery with import charges included, timing, what you are sending and your measurements.
InspirationWhy the quote matters
Every order starts with a written, individual quote, and nothing is cut or stitched until you approve it. In the UK, the quote is in pounds sterling (GBP); in the USA and Europe, it is in US dollars (USD), euros (EUR) or pounds sterling (GBP), whichever you choose. The quote is where the conversation about your outfit turns into a plan: the design, the price, the timing and the shipping, all in one place. It is worth reading carefully, because it is far easier to change something before work starts than after.
The minimum order is one suit, and there are no free samples, so the quote is the place to settle every detail before you commit. Here is what to check for. If anything below is missing or unclear in your quote, ask before you approve it. Take your time: a question asked now is always easier than a change made later.
Once approved, keep the quote somewhere you can find it. It is the reference for the whole order, and it is useful to have to hand when your parcel arrives.
The price
- Itemised, in the right currency: each outfit or piece priced so you can see what it covers, including any lining or dupatta finishing. Check the currency too: pounds sterling in the UK, or the one you chose in the USA or Europe.
- The extras you asked for: pockets, piping, lace or embellishment should appear if you requested them.
- Fabric, on Fabric + Stitching: if we are supplying the agreed fabric, check it is included and described.
- Delivery and import charges: one line on the quote covering delivery of the finished outfit to your address and any import duties, taxes and customs or courier fees in your country. It is part of the total, so there is nothing extra to pay when your parcel arrives.
- The total: check that the individual lines, including delivery and import charges, add up to the total you expect.
The outfit itself
- What you are sending: on Stitching Only, each piece listed, such as the kameez fabric, trouser fabric, dupatta or a kameez that fits for us to measure, so nothing is left out of the parcel.
- The design: neckline, sleeves, kameez length, trouser style, lining and any embellishment, as agreed.
- Your measurements confirmed: the numbers the outfit will be cut from, and the unit, or a note that a garment you are sending will be measured. See measuring in inches or centimetres.
- Anything that was flagged: for example a fabric that is short for full sleeves, or a border that needs placing, with the solution agreed.
- Fabrics matched to designs: if you are sending several suits, check each fabric is paired with the right design.
Timing, payment and shipping
- Timing: the production time, checked against the date you gave on the form. Delivery dates cannot be guaranteed, so leave some slack before a date that matters.
- How to pay: the quote explains how to pay. If the quote is in a different currency from your account or card, your bank or card issuer converts the amount; see paying from abroad in pounds, euros or dollars.
- If something is not right: what happens if anything needs attention when your outfit arrives. If the quote does not say, ask.
- Sending your fabric: Stitching Only has two separate shipping stages, your fabric to us in Pakistan and the finished outfit to you. Sending the fabric is yours to arrange unless the quote says otherwise, while delivery of the finished outfit and its import charges are included in the quote. Check where and how to send the fabric, or a note that those details follow once you approve, and post nothing until they are confirmed.
- Your details: your name, contact details, country and city, correct and complete. The full delivery address is collected when the order goes ahead.
Import charges, and approving
Every outfit is shipped from Pakistan, and parcels from abroad are normally subject to import duties, taxes or courier handling fees in the destination country, wherever you live, including the UK. With us, these are included: your written quote includes delivery to your address and any import duties, taxes and customs or courier fees, so your order is shipped delivered duty paid and there is nothing extra to pay when your parcel arrives. If a courier ever asks you for payment on delivery, contact us before paying anything. Our USA, Italy, Europe and UK pages cover the basics for each region.
If everything matches what you asked for, approve the quote and follow the next steps. If something is not right, or you have changed your mind about a detail, say so and ask for it to be updated before work starts. Our how it works page shows where the quote sits in the whole process, the first order checklist helps you prepare, and every order begins on the stitching quote form.
Common questions
Is the stitching quote in pounds or my own currency?
It depends where you live. UK quotes are in pounds sterling (GBP). If you are in the USA or Europe, you choose US dollars (USD), euros (EUR) or pounds sterling (GBP), and the quote is written in that currency. If you pay from an account in a different currency, your bank or card issuer converts the amount at its own rate, and any fee depends on your provider.
Will I pay import charges on my order?
Not on arrival. Your written quote includes delivery to your address and any import duties, taxes and customs or courier fees, wherever you live, including the UK, so there is nothing extra to pay when your parcel arrives.
Is there a minimum order, or can I have a free sample?
The minimum order is one suit, and there are no free samples. Your written quote covers exactly what you order, and nothing is cut until you approve it.
Can I change something after I receive the quote?
Yes, before you approve it. Tell us what you would like to change and ask for an updated quote; nothing is cut or stitched until you approve it.
