Neckline (Gala) Designs With Lace

Also called lace wala gala

Quick answer

Lace on a neckline can sit along the edge, be set a little inside it as a band, or fill an inset panel. Narrow lace looks simple and everyday; wider lace suits Eid. Any neckline shape can take lace, but lace follows straight and gently curved edges most neatly. Tell us the placement and width, and send a photo of the lace if you’re supplying it.

Three ways to use lace on a neckline

  • Edge lace: lace sewn so it peeps out along the neckline edge. Simple and delicate; works on round, V and square necks.
  • Band lace: a strip of lace sewn a little inside the neckline, following its shape, often in a contrast colour. The most common “gala design with lace”.
  • Inset lace: a lace panel set into the neckline area, sometimes over a lining. Dressier, and best for Eid and gatherings.

Which necklines take lace best

Lace follows straight lines and gentle curves most neatly, so square, V and round necklines are the easiest. Tight curves, such as a small high round neck or a sweetheart, need narrower or flexible lace so it doesn’t ripple.

Choosing lace width and type

Narrow lace suits everyday lawn and small prints; wider lace suits plain fabric and occasion wear. Cotton and crochet laces wash well with lawn and cotton; net lace suits chiffon and silk. Matching the lace to the fabric’s care matters: a lace that shrinks or bleeds differently from the kameez will pucker after washing, so it’s worth checking a small piece first.

Many unstitched suits include lace or an embroidered border you can use at the neckline. If you’re supplying your own lace, tell us on the quote and include a photo.

How to ask for it

Choose your neckline shape on the stitching quote form, then describe the lace in the notes: edge, band or inset; the width; and whether it comes with your suit or you’d like us to suggest one. A screenshot of the look you want is the clearest brief.

Common questions

Can I use the lace that came with my unstitched suit?

Yes. Tell us which piece it is and send a photo, and we’ll plan the neckline around it.

Will lace shrink when I wash the kameez?

Some laces shrink differently from the fabric. Washing a small piece of the lace and the fabric first shows whether they behave the same.
