Why made to measure makes the difference

Plus-size Pakistani suits made to measure solve the problem most US shoppers meet first: Pakistani pret size charts often stop at XL or a single larger size, and they scale every measurement up together, so the bust may fit while the upper arm, hip or length does not. When the pattern is drafted from your own measurements instead, each part of the outfit is sized for you.

This guide covers the US shopping side and the practical details of ordering. For how much room to ask for, see how loose a kameez should be.

US plus sizes and Pakistani charts do not line up

US women’s plus sizes (the W sizes) are cut with more room through the bust, waist and hip than misses sizes with the same number, and they differ from brand to brand. Pakistani brands use their own blocks in inches. There is no reliable translation, so give body measurements rather than a size; our size guide shows where each one is taken.

If you own a plus-size piece from a US brand that fits you well, that garment is more useful than its size label. Measure it flat and include the figures, because they show us how much room you like.

The extra measurements worth sending

Beyond bust, waist, hips and lengths, a few measurements make a big difference to comfort. If the form does not ask for one, add it to your notes:

  • Upper arm at the fullest point, so sleeves do not pinch when you bend your elbow.
  • Tummy at its fullest point, if it is larger than your waist or hips.
  • Armhole comfort: tell us if ready-made armholes usually feel tight or cut in.
  • Thigh, for slimmer trouser styles such as cigarette pants.
  • A photo of a kameez that fits you well, measured flat, if you have one.

Fabric quantity: the hidden problem

Unstitched suits are cut to a fixed length of fabric, usually planned around average sizes. For a larger bust and hip, a longer kameez or wide sleeves, there may not be enough. That is why we confirm quantity before you post anything; if a suit is short, our guide to what to do if your suit is short of fabric explains the options.

With Fabric + Stitching, the problem goes away: we supply enough of the agreed fabric for your measurements and design.

Cuts that feel good to wear

Comfort comes first; the most flattering outfit is the one you forget you are wearing. An A-line kameez moves easily over the hip, longer side slits give room to sit and walk, and a trouser with an elasticated or drawstring waist stays comfortable through a long day. Fabrics with some drape, such as lawn or a soft cotton, often hang more smoothly than very crisp ones.

If you prefer a closer fit, say so. Ease is a choice, not a rule, and the amount you want is agreed before cutting.

Ordering from anywhere in the US

Everything is arranged online: there is no store or try-on in the US, so the written quote is where every measurement and detail is agreed. Production takes 5 to 7 working days once the quote is approved and paid in full, and delivery to your address, with any import charges, is included in the quote. Single outfits are welcome.

Start with the Fabric + Stitching quote form, or see the USA page and, for example, the Atlanta page for how ordering works where you live.

Common questions

Which trouser style is most comfortable for plus-size women?

Many people find a shalwar, a straight trouser or a palazzo with an elasticated or drawstring waist most comfortable for long days. Slimmer cigarette pants are possible too; send a thigh measurement so they are cut with enough room.

Do you make plus-size shalwar kameez?

Yes. Every outfit is cut to your own measurements, so there is no upper size limit on a chart. Fabric quantity is confirmed before cutting, especially if you are supplying an unstitched suit.

Will my unstitched suit have enough fabric for a plus-size kameez?

Not always. Unstitched suits are planned around average sizes, so send photos and measurements first and we confirm whether there is enough before you post it.

Can I ask for a looser fit?

Yes. Tell us how you like your clothes to fit, or send a kameez that fits well as a reference. The amount of ease is agreed in writing before cutting.
