Fancy work and embellishment in South Africa
An Eid morning in Cape Town, a Diwali evening in Durban, a cousin’s mehndi in Johannesburg: each calls for a little more than a plain suit. Our fancy work means embroidery, lace and borders added while we stitch your outfit, and the quote we send spells out what your chosen fabric and design can carry.

Fancy work for South Africa
Embroidery, lace and borders added to the outfit we stitch for you, from delicate to statement (never bridal).
Sizes, delivery and sending fabric from South Africa: ordering from South Africa.
Choosing a level for South African occasions
Pick delicate if you want a touch of embroidery around the neckline or the sleeves, enough for a summer Eid lunch and still wearable at the office afterwards. Pick detailed, which runs across neckline, sleeves and hem, for a winter function or a big family get-together. Statement is the boldest option, made for Eid parties and festive nights, and is always meant for guests, never the bride.
Heat matters as well. In Durban or a hot Highveld December, keep the embellishment light so the outfit stays cool; in a Cape or Joburg winter, a heavier fabric carries more detail comfortably.
Show us what you like
A photo of a border, a lace trim or an embroidered neckline helps more than any description. Upload it alongside the design you are starting from, whether your own or one from our designs, and say where on the outfit the work should sit.
Where it goes and how much of it there is get settled in writing along with every other design choice, and the cost sits inside the outfit’s total rather than on a separate bill.
How it works
Fancy work step by step
- 01
Choose the level
On the quote form, pick delicate (neckline or sleeves), detailed (neckline, sleeves and hem), statement (bolder work for Eid and parties), or ask us to advise.
- 02
Show us the look
Add a reference photo of the embroidery, lace or border you like. What is possible on your fabric and design is confirmed in your written quote.
- 03
Agreed before cutting
The placement and amount of embellishment are agreed in writing with the rest of the design, and quoted as part of the outfit.
- 04
Made with the outfit
The work is done in Pakistan as part of stitching your outfit, which is then shipped to you. We do not embroider garments on their own.

FAQ
Fancy work questions

Cities in South Africa
Could you add a border to a suit that is already stitched?
Sorry, no. Embellishment comes only with an outfit we make from scratch, so ready-made clothes and standalone embroidery jobs are outside what we offer.
Can I have lace added to fabric I send you?
Often, yes. With Stitching Only we can add lace or a border to your own fabric; whether a particular trim suits it is set out in your quote.
