Fancy work and embellishment in Malaysia

Embellishment changes how an outfit feels in the heat as much as how it looks. Fancy work here means embroidery, lace or borders added to an outfit we are stitching for you, at the level you choose on the quote form, and planned so you can still sit through a long afternoon of visits in comfort. We do not embroider garments on their own.

  • Made in Pakistan, shipped to Malaysia
  • 5 to 7 working days to make, plus shipping
  • Quote currency agreed with you

Choosing a level for a Malaysian celebration

Delicate work, at the neckline or sleeves, suits office days, Friday prayers and smaller family meals. Detailed work, at the neckline, sleeves and hem, is the level most people pick for Hari Raya Aidilfitri, when a kameez is seen from every angle across a day of open houses. Statement work is bolder and suits a Deepavali evening, an Eid dinner or a wedding you are attending as a guest.

Dense embellishment adds weight and warmth, so in Malaysian weather we often suggest putting the richness at the neckline and hem and keeping the body of the kameez light. A lace trim on the sleeves or a border along the daman gives a festive edge without much extra bulk; see our lace on the hem style page.

Agreeing it before cutting

Send a reference photo of the embroidery, lace or border you like with your request. What is possible on your fabric and design is confirmed in your written quote, along with the placement. If you are using your own embroidered suit, the work already on it is used as part of the design.

Choose a level when you customise one of our designs, or ask for one on your own design through the quote form.

How it works

Fancy work step by step

  1. 01

    Choose the level

On the quote form, pick delicate (neckline or sleeves), detailed (neckline, sleeves and hem), statement (bolder work for Eid and parties), or ask us to advise.

  2. 02

    Show us the look

Add a reference photo of the embroidery, lace or border you like. What is possible on your fabric and design is confirmed in your written quote.

  3. 03

    Agreed before cutting

The placement and amount of embellishment are agreed in writing with the rest of the design, and quoted as part of the outfit.

  4. 04

    Made with the outfit

The work is done in Pakistan as part of stitching your outfit, which is then shipped to you. We do not embroider garments on their own.

  • Single pieces welcome

One outfit is enough. No minimum bundle.

  • Full payment in advance

You pay once you’ve approved your quote, before we cut anything.

  • 5 to 7 working days to make

Production time only. Shipping is added on top.

  • Delivered worldwide

Delivery and import charges are included in your quote.

Will heavier embroidery make the outfit too warm?

It can add some warmth, which is why we usually suggest keeping the body of the kameez light and choosing a breathable lining. We talk this through with you before the quote is final.

Can you add embroidery to a kurta I already own?

No. Embroidery, lace and borders are added only to outfits we are making for you, not to finished garments.
