How to post your fabric or unstitched suit for stitching
How to post an unstitched suit or fabric to us in Pakistan for stitching: what to agree first, what to include, how to pack it and the customs declaration.
InspirationWait for the go-ahead
Stitching Only involves two shipping stages: you send your fabric to us in Pakistan, and we ship the finished outfit to you. Before you post anything, we confirm with you that the fabric is suitable, how much is needed and how to send it, and your written quote sets out the design, the price, the production time and the shipping costs. Wait for that go-ahead before you pack. That way nothing arrives unexpected, and the fabric can be checked against the photos you sent. Our how it works page shows each stage, and our guide to what your written quote includes explains the details.
Before you pack, photograph everything going in the parcel. If anything goes astray, a record of what was sent helps.
What to put in the parcel
- Every piece you want used, with the label or pack card if you still have it.
- A note with your name, any reference we have given you and a contact number or email.
- A copy of your measurements or the quote, printed or handwritten, as a back-up.
- A kameez to use as a template, if that is what we agreed. See using a kameez that fits as a template.
- Any trims you bought for the outfit, such as lace or buttons, if they are part of the quote.
- The dupatta only if you want it finished or matched to the kameez; otherwise keep it at home.
- Nothing else: no pins, loose jewellery or unrelated items.
Packing it well
Fabric is light and forgiving to post, but a few precautions keep it clean and crease-free. Avoid newspaper as padding, because the ink can transfer to pale colours, and keep sticky tape away from the fabric itself.
- Fold neatly, with embroidery facing inwards and a sheet of tissue over embellished areas. Wrap stones, sequins or mirror work in extra tissue so they cannot catch.
- Add a waterproof layer: a clean, sealed bag around the fabric protects it from rain and spills in transit.
- Use a sturdy mailing bag or box, big enough that the fabric is not crushed or squeezed into sharp creases.
- Seal it well and write the address clearly, with your return address on the outside.
- Keep suits separate: if you send several, bag each one with its own note.
Choosing a postal service
Use a tracked service, with a signature on delivery where it is offered, and keep the receipt and tracking number until the parcel has arrived. Share the tracking number with us as well. Services differ in how much they cover if a parcel is lost or damaged, so check the cover before you choose, especially for embroidered or luxury suits. If you can, post early in the week, so the parcel is less likely to sit in a depot over a weekend.
Customs declarations and import charges
Your fabric travels to us in Pakistan, so it crosses a border wherever you post it from, including the UK, Europe and the USA, and the parcel will normally need a customs declaration. We confirm the sending arrangements with you before you post. When you fill in the declaration, describe the contents plainly, give a true value and follow your postal service’s guidance. We cannot give tax advice, so ask your postal service or carrier if anything on the form is unclear.
The return journey is different. When the finished outfit is shipped to you from Pakistan, your written quote includes delivery to your address and any import duties, taxes and customs or courier fees in your country, so there is nothing extra to pay when your parcel arrives. If a courier ever asks you for payment on delivery, contact us before paying anything. Posting your fabric to us is still yours to arrange, unless your quote says otherwise. Production time is confirmed in your written quote too, but we cannot guarantee delivery dates, so leave plenty of time before an event. Our guides to ordering from Europe and ordering from the USA go into more detail.

Common questions
Can I post my unstitched suit to be stitched?
Yes, with Stitching Only. You send the suit to us in Pakistan and we ship the finished outfit to you. Before you post anything, we confirm with you that the fabric is suitable, how much is needed and how to send it. Use a tracked service and keep the receipt until it has arrived.
Do I need a customs form to send fabric to Pakistan?
Expect to. Your fabric travels to us in Pakistan from another country, so the parcel normally needs a customs declaration wherever you post it from, including the UK. We confirm the sending arrangements with you before you post; describe the contents plainly, give a true value and follow your postal service’s own guidance.
Should I send the dupatta as well?
Only if you want it finished or matched to the kameez. Otherwise keep it at home, which makes the parcel lighter and leaves one less thing to post.
