Fancy work and embellishment in Ireland
The occasions that call for a little embellishment in Ireland are mostly close to home: Eid with family in Dublin or Cork, a dawat with friends, a graduation in Limerick or Galway, the office Christmas party, or a wedding you are attending as a guest. Fancy work means embroidery, lace or borders added to an outfit we are stitching for you, at the level that suits the day.

Fancy work for Ireland
Embroidery, lace and borders added to the outfit we stitch for you, from delicate to statement (never bridal).
Sizes, delivery and sending fabric from Ireland: ordering from Ireland.
Choosing a level for the occasion
Delicate work, at the neckline or the sleeves, lifts a plain kurta for the office or campus without drawing attention. Detailed work, at the neckline, sleeves and hem, is the usual choice for Eid morning and family dinners. Statement work is bolder, meant for Eid evenings and parties; it is not for an outfit worn by a bride, which we do not make. If you are unsure, ask us to advise, and send a reference photo of the look you like.
Embellishment and Irish weather
Eid moves through the year, so it may fall in a dark, wet winter. Embroidery on velvet, karandi or linen, with a warm shawl over it, suits those Eids well. In the brighter months, a lace edge on a lawn kameez or a border along the dupatta keeps things light. Embellished pieces also take longer to dry indoors in a damp Irish week, so our guide to caring for lawn and embroidered suits is worth a read.
How it is quoted
The placement and amount of embellishment are agreed in writing with the rest of the design and priced as part of the outfit, and what is possible on your fabric is confirmed in the written quote. It can go on an outfit made from our fabric or yours. You could also start from one of our designs and change the embroidery level through customisation. Delivery to Ireland and import charges are in the same quote.
