Delivered to Ireland
Made-to-Measure Clothing Delivered to Ireland
If you live in Dublin, Cork, Galway or Limerick and want a salwar kameez, kurta or co-ord that fits you properly, The Gilded Seam makes women’s clothing to your own measurements in Pakistan and delivers it to your address in Ireland. There is no shop, studio or tailor here: you order online, agree every detail in writing, and choose whether we supply the fabric or you send your own. Ireland feels close to the UK in plenty of ways, dress sizes included, but it is in the EU, so the import rules for your parcel are the EU’s. This page covers what is specific to ordering from Ireland.
- Made in Pakistan, shipped to Ireland
- Minimum order: one suit

Ordering from Ireland
The questions customers ask before their first order, answered for your country.
What can I order?
Made-to-measure women’s clothing, cut and stitched to your own measurements. That covers three-piece and two-piece salwar kameez, kurtas and kameez, co-ords, Eid outfits, casual party wear and Western pieces such as dresses, skirts, tops and trousers. For Irish weather, a lined kameez for the long damp winter and a lighter cotton set for the brighter summer months cover most of the year.
Can I order just one suit?
Yes. Our minimum order is one suit, made to your agreed measurements and design. There are no free samples, so the fabric, cut and finishing are agreed through your photos, notes and written quote before anything is made. A single Eid suit delivered to Cork is as normal an order as several outfits for a family in Dublin.
Can you provide the fabric?
Yes. With Fabric + Stitching, we supply the agreed fabric and make the outfit for you. Tell us the colour, weight and feel you want, perhaps a cambric that copes with Irish drizzle or a khaddar for winter, and the fabric is confirmed in your quote, so the only parcel is your finished outfit coming to Ireland.
Can I send my own fabric?
Yes, subject to fabric suitability and sufficient quantity. This is our Stitching Only service: your fabric travels from Ireland to Pakistan, and the finished garment is then shipped to you, so there are two separate shipping stages. Please contact us to confirm the fabric, the quantity and the arrangements before you send anything, then post it by a tracked international service, with An Post or a courier, and an accurate customs declaration.
How do I submit my measurements?
Enter them on the quote form, in centimetres or inches. Ireland measures officially in centimetres, but inches are accepted too, which helps if they feel more familiar for body measurements; just tell us which you used. A UK-style size 12 on an Irish label is no substitute for your own numbers.
How are the design and fit agreed?
Design details and measurements are agreed with you in writing before anything is cut. Your quote sets out the neckline, sleeves, lengths, trouser style and any lining, and since nobody measures you or tries the outfit on you in person, it helps to send photos of a kameez you already like the fit of, or notes such as wanting room for a jumper underneath.
Where is the clothing made?
Our garments are made in Pakistan and shipped internationally. We have no shop, studio or workroom in Dublin or anywhere else in Ireland; everything is arranged online, and your finished outfit is shipped to your Irish address.
How are production time and shipping costs confirmed?
Both are confirmed in your written quote. Production time and the cost of shipping to Ireland depend on the garments, the service option and the delivery method, so we set them out for your order rather than publishing a standard figure. If you are planning for Eid, a graduation or another date, mention it when you ask for a quote.
Who handles import charges?
We do. Your written quote includes delivery to your address in Ireland and any import duties, taxes and customs fees, so there is nothing extra to pay when your parcel arrives. Although Irish shops use UK-style sizes, Ireland is in the EU, where VAT applies to all imported goods and a temporary flat EU customs duty now applies to low-value parcels from outside the EU, and these are covered in your quote.
How do I request a quote?
Use the Request a Custom Quote form at /quote?country=ireland, which opens with Ireland already selected. Add your city, the garment, quantity, service option, measurements, design images and notes, and we reply with a written quote. Your full delivery address, Eircode included, is only needed once the order goes ahead.

Sending fabric from Ireland for Stitching Only
Whether your unstitched suit was ordered online from a Pakistani brand, sent over by relatives or packed in a suitcase after a trip home, our unstitched suit stitching service turns it into a finished outfit cut to your measurements. Fabric bought by the metre works too, and how much fabric a three-piece suit needs helps you check what you have.
Before you post anything, send us daylight photos of each piece so we can confirm the fabric is suitable and that there is enough of it for your design; photographing fabric for a quote shows what helps. Once the arrangements are agreed, send it to Pakistan by a tracked international service, with An Post or a courier. Pakistan is outside the EU, so the parcel needs a customs declaration: describe the contents accurately, for example “unstitched cotton suit fabric, three pieces”, and give an honest value. How to post your fabric for stitching walks through the packing.
That is the first of two shipping stages. The finished outfit comes to you as a separate international shipment, and that is the parcel that goes through Irish customs, with delivery and import charges included in your quote. If you would rather send nothing at all, choose Fabric + Stitching and we supply the fabric.
Delivery to Ireland: EU import rules, not the UK’s
Your outfit is shipped from Pakistan to your address in Ireland. Production time, the delivery method and the shipping cost are all confirmed in your written quote before you approve anything.
It is easy to assume Ireland follows the same import rules as its nearest neighbour, but Ireland is in the EU, and the EU’s rules apply. Since 1 July 2021 all goods imported into the EU are subject to VAT, and it is paid either through the seller’s registration in the EU’s Import One-Stop Shop (IOSS) or when the parcel is imported. From 1 July 2026 the EU also applies a temporary €3 customs duty for each category of goods on low-value consignments (up to €150) from outside the EU, until 1 July 2028, and the previous €150 duty exemption has been abolished, as the Council of the EU confirmed.
In Ireland, customs is the job of the Revenue Commissioners, known simply as Revenue. With us, the import VAT, customs duty and any courier handling fees on your parcel are already included in your written quote, together with delivery to your address, so there is nothing extra to pay when your parcel arrives. If a courier ever asks you for payment on delivery, contact us before paying anything. We do not give tax advice, so for anything specific to your situation, Revenue is the place to start. The Europe overview and our guide to ordering from Europe cover the same rules across the EU, and if you are ordering for someone in Britain, the UK page covers the rules there.
UK-style sizes, measured properly
Irish shops use UK-style dress sizes, so a size 10 or 12 in Dublin means much what it does in London, and it is tempting to write that down and leave it there. Please measure instead. A size label says nothing about your sleeve length, where you want the kameez to fall or how much ease you like across the hips, and it runs on a different scale from the continental 36, 38 or 40 printed beside it on many labels. Use the size guide and our measuring guide; UK, EU and US dress sizes for a kameez explains why a label is never enough.
Ireland uses centimetres officially, yet you may find inches more familiar when it comes to your own body. Either works on the quote form; just say which you used, and read measuring in inches or centimetres if you want to switch.
Salwar kameez and shalwar kameez are the same outfit, spelled differently depending on where your family comes from, and plenty of people simply call it a suit: a kameez, trousers and usually a dupatta.
Rain, Eid and ordering from Dublin to Galway
Ireland’s weather is mild, wet and changeable, shaped by the Atlantic: rarely hot, rarely freezing, and seldom dry for long, especially in the west. Cambric, linen and cotton blends earn their keep for most of the year, a lined kameez or a khaddar suit helps from October to March, and lawn is best kept for the brighter summer days. Our winter fabrics guide compares the warmer options, and it is worth telling us if you want room for a jumper or a thermal layer underneath.
Eid moves through the calendar from year to year, so it can land in a dark wet winter or a bright June. Because Stitching Only means your fabric travelling to Pakistan and your outfit travelling to Ireland, start early and tell us your date; the Eid outfit timeline helps you work backwards from the day.
Ordering works the same way from anywhere in the country, from Dublin to Cork, Galway, Limerick or a small town in the midlands, and how it works walks through every step. France, Germany and the Netherlands have their own pages. When you are ready, request a quote for Ireland.

Elsewhere in Europe
Do you have a shop or tailor in Dublin?
No. We have no shop, studio, tailor or measuring service in Dublin or anywhere else in Ireland. Everything is ordered online, made in Pakistan to the measurements you send, and delivered to your address.
Is ordering from Ireland the same as ordering from the UK?
Not quite. Ireland shares UK-style dress sizes, but it is in the EU, so EU import rules apply to your parcel, including VAT on all imports and the flat EU customs duty on low-value parcels, and customs is handled by Revenue. Your written quote includes those import charges along with delivery, so there is nothing extra to pay when your parcel arrives.
Do you need my Eircode straight away?
No. The first enquiry needs only your name, email, country, city, garment, quantity, service option, design images and notes. Your full delivery address, including your Eircode, is collected when the order goes ahead.
