Fancy work and embellishment in the Netherlands

Fancy work is the embellishment we add while stitching your outfit: embroidery, lace and borders. In the Netherlands, where everyday dress is relaxed and the same outfit may need to survive a bike ride to the mosque or a family gathering, getting the amount and placement right matters as much as the look.

Fancy work for the Netherlands

Embroidery, lace and borders added to the outfit we stitch for you, from delicate to statement (never bridal).

How much is right

Delicate work on the neckline or sleeves keeps a kurta wearable for work and errands, and it suits the understated way many people dress in Dutch cities. Detailed work on the neckline, sleeves and hem is the classic choice for Eid morning or a visit to relatives. Statement work is bolder, for Eid evenings, dholkis and parties, or a wedding where you are a guest. We do not make outfits for brides.

Practical placement for Dutch life

If you will cycle in the outfit, think about where the work sits. A border along the hem of a long kameez can rub against the saddle, and wide lace at the cuff can catch on a handlebar, so neckline and front embroidery may serve you better. On a windy day, a dupatta with a border at the edge looks finished even when it will not stay put. Lace on lawn suits a warm summer gathering, while embroidery on cambric or velvet works through the damp months. What is possible on your fabric is confirmed in your written quote.

Part of the outfit, never on its own

We add fancy work only to an outfit we are stitching for you, with our fabric or with a suit you have sent after we confirmed it. Pick a level on the quote form or share a reference photo, and the placement is agreed in writing before cutting. The general custom stitching page explains more, and the Netherlands page covers delivery.

How it works

Fancy work step by step

  1. 01

    Choose the level

On the quote form, pick delicate (neckline or sleeves), detailed (neckline, sleeves and hem), statement (bolder work for Eid and parties), or ask us to advise.

  2. 02

    Show us the look

Add a reference photo of the embroidery, lace or border you like. What is possible on your fabric and design is confirmed in your written quote.

  3. 03

    Agreed before cutting

The placement and amount of embellishment are agreed in writing with the rest of the design, and quoted as part of the outfit.

  4. 04

    Made with the outfit

The work is done in Pakistan as part of stitching your outfit, which is then shipped to you. We do not embroider garments on their own.

  • Single pieces welcome

One outfit is enough. No minimum bundle.

  • Full payment in advance

You pay once you’ve approved your quote, before we cut anything.

  • 5 to 7 working days to make

Production time only. Shipping is added on top.

  • Delivered worldwide

Delivery and import charges are included in your quote.

Can you add a lace border to a suit I already wear?

No. We only add embroidery, lace and borders to outfits we are stitching, not to finished garments.

Is statement work too much for everyday wear?

Usually, yes. Statement work is meant for Eid and parties; for everyday or office wear, the delicate level is a better fit.
