It is also further north and more exposed than the Randstad, so the wind has a bite in winter. Cut for a headwind
Cycling across the flat Groningen countryside into the wind is a local rite. A short kurti or a knee-length kameez with side slits set high enough for the saddle, worn with straight or cigarette trousers, rides far better than a long flared kameez with a wide shalwar. Add a lining from October to April and choose a heavier cotton or khaddar for the coldest weeks; lawn is only really for the warm days of summer.
Student life, short on time
With the University of Groningen and Hanze University of Applied Sciences in town, a large share of the city is studying, and nobody has time to hunt for a naaister. A short kurta and cigarette trousers with full sleeves, or a simple kurti to wear over jeans, can be ordered as a single piece. For Eid, or a friend’s wedding, one dressier suit goes a long way; university and campus outfits has more ideas.
Sending a suit from the north
If you have an unstitched suit from home, our Stitching Only service is the route. Photograph it first and wait for us to confirm it; then you arrange a tracked parcel to Pakistan, declaring the contents accurately for customs. Can I order just a kurti?
Yes. Single-piece orders are welcome, and the minimum is one suit, so one kurti made to your measurements is fine.
Will my quote be in euros?
If you like. Customers in the Netherlands choose euros, US dollars or pounds sterling, and the written quote is issued in that currency.
