Planning an embroidered Eid outfit made to measure
How to plan an embroidered Eid outfit made to measure: choosing the level and placement, balancing kameez and dupatta, seasonal fabric and ordering in good time.
InspirationEid is where embroidery shines
Eid is the occasion most people have in mind when they ask for embroidery. An embroidered Eid outfit made to measure lets you choose exactly how festive it feels: a delicate neckline for a calm morning of prayers and visiting, or bolder work for an evening gathering. The design is agreed with you in writing, then made in Pakistan and shipped to you.
Here is how to plan it so the embroidery, fabric and timing all work together.
Choose the level for your day
Think about the whole day, not one photo. Eid often means early prayers, a long lunch, visits to several homes and perhaps a party in the evening. Detailed embroidery at the neckline, sleeves and hem is festive yet comfortable for all of that. Statement work suits an outfit kept for the evening, or a day spent mainly indoors.
Our guide to delicate, detailed or statement embroidery compares the three levels in more depth.
Balance the kameez and the dupatta
In a three-piece Eid suit, decide which piece leads:
- Rich kameez, light dupatta: worked neckline and hem, with a dupatta that simply picks up one thread colour.
- Plain kameez, rich dupatta: a clean kameez with a bordered or worked dupatta, which is easier to wear all day and lets the dupatta frame the face.
- Echoed details: the same motif, scaled down, at the trouser hems. See trouser styles for shapes that show a hem border well.
Fabric for the season
Eid moves through the calendar, so the weather changes from year to year. In warm months, lawn, cotton and light silks keep you comfortable under embroidery; in cooler months, cambric, karandi or khaddar carry richer work. The Eid occasion page and our climate guide for embroidery help you choose.
With Fabric + Stitching, we supply the agreed fabric and can suggest a base that suits the work. With Stitching Only, you send your own Eid suit, perhaps one that already has an embroidered panel, once we have confirmed it.
Colour and thread for Eid
Eid colours tend to follow the mood of the day: fresh pastels and whites for a summer morning, jewel tones such as emerald, plum and deep teal for cooler evenings. Embroidery can either sit quietly in the same shade, which looks refined in daylight, or contrast with the base, which reads well across a room and in group photos.
A useful approach is to pick one accent colour and use it in three places: the neckline work, the dupatta edge and a small detail at the trouser hem. It ties the outfit together without needing heavy work anywhere. If you are wearing gold or silver jewellery, a touch of matching tone in the thread links the two.
Timing: start early
Production takes 5 to 7 working days once your quote is approved and paid in full, and for Stitching Only, once your fabric reaches us. Shipping is separate and varies by destination, and design questions take time to settle too. We do not offer rush orders, so the safest plan is to enquire well before Eid rather than in the final fortnight.
Our Eid timeline works backwards from Eid day, and Eid ul-Adha outfit ideas has more style inspiration.
Ordering your Eid outfit
Start on the stitching quote form, choose Eid outfit, pick an embellishment level and upload a photo of the embroidery you like. Ordering from the UK, perhaps from Birmingham? Quotes are in pounds, and the UK fancy work page explains how it works from there. Our custom embroidery service explains how the work is planned and quoted.
Common questions
Which embroidery level is most popular for Eid?
We do not publish figures, but detailed work at the neckline, sleeves and hem is a practical choice for a long Eid day, while statement work suits an evening outfit. You can also ask us to advise.
Can my Eid outfit match my sister’s?
Yes. Ask for coordinated outfits on one enquiry with each person’s measurements, and say which details should match, such as thread colour or neckline motif.
Can I send my own Eid suit with an embroidered panel?
Yes, with Stitching Only. Send photos of every piece first, including the panel, and tell us how you want it placed. We confirm the fabric is suitable and enough before you post it.
Do you offer rush orders before Eid?
No. Production is 5 to 7 working days from approval and full payment, plus shipping time, so it is worth enquiring early.
