Nijmegen claims to be the oldest city in the Netherlands, founded by the Romans on the banks of the Waal. Every July it hosts the Four Days Marches, when walkers from all over the world fill the roads, and the rest of the year it is a student city around Radboud University. The Gilded Seam stitches kurtas, co-ords and shalwar kameez to your measurements in Pakistan and ships them to your Nijmegen address. Comfort first
A city that celebrates walking deserves clothes that move. Ease matters more than any label size: a kameez cut with enough room at the hip and a little extra in the trousers lets you walk, cycle and sit without tugging. Our guide to ease explains how loose a kameez should be. Wide-leg or palazzo trousers are a comfortable starting point.
Hills, the Waal and summer heat
Nijmegen is one of the few Dutch cities with hills, and the climb to the Radboud campus on a bike is real. Summers can be warm, so lawn or linen with three-quarter sleeves keeps you cool, while winters along the Waal are damp and grey and call for a lined kameez. Tall? Many Dutch women are, so give us your own kameez and sleeve lengths rather than a standard size.

FAQ
Nijmegen questions
Can I ask for a looser cut than usual?
Yes. Say how much room you like in your notes, or send measurements of a kameez you find comfortable, and we agree the ease with you in writing.
Can you make a longer kameez for a tall woman?
Yes. Every outfit is cut to your measurements, so give us the kameez, sleeve and trouser lengths you want. A longer kameez may need more fabric, which we check when you send your own.
