Dressing for the wind
Gusty days are normal here in every season, so think about how each piece will behave outdoors. A kameez that is straight rather than very flared, trousers that are not too wide, and a dupatta you can wrap or pin all help. A straight kameez at knee length stays put, and you can ask for a narrower trouser.
Winters are cool and damp rather than freezing. Khaddar, karandi or linen with a lining makes a warm kameez to wear under a coat, while cambric covers spring and autumn.
Office wear for a government town
A large share of Wellington works in offices, many of them in the public service, where a neat, covered outfit fits right in. A kurta with a band collar and buttoned placket looks professional with a blazer, and full sleeves give more coverage. Students at Victoria University of Wellington often prefer a short kurta for jeans.

Can you make a dupatta that is easier to manage in the wind?
Yes. Ask for a lighter or smaller dupatta in your notes, or leave it out and make the outfit a two-piece. We agree the details in writing before cutting.
Do you have a tailor in Wellington?
No. There is no shop, studio or tailor of ours in Wellington. Everything is arranged online and the outfit is couriered from Pakistan.
