Pakistani clothes in New Zealand: a made-to-measure guide
A guide to ordering made-to-measure Pakistani clothes in New Zealand: outfits for changeable weather, sizes and measurements, sending fabric, currency and delivery.
InspirationA long way from the nearest boutique
Buying Pakistani clothes in New Zealand usually means choosing between a small selection in Auckland, an overseas ready-to-wear order in a size that may not fit, or making your own arrangements with family abroad. Ordering made to measure online is a fourth option: you send your design and measurements, approve a written quote, and an outfit cut for you in Pakistan is couriered to your address anywhere in the country.
We have no shop, studio or tailor in New Zealand. Everything is agreed online and in writing, which works as well in Invercargill as in Auckland. The New Zealand page gives the overview.
Dressing for four seasons in a day
New Zealand weather changes fast. Auckland is humid with sudden showers, Wellington is famous for its wind, and Christchurch and Dunedin get crisp frosts in winter. The common thread is that you need outfits that layer, rather than one perfect weight for one temperature.
- Kurtas with trousers are the everyday backbone: a cotton or cambric kurta with straight trousers works under a rain jacket and on its own when the sun comes out.
- Co-ords look put together with a cardigan or trench on top. Our co-ord sets guide covers fabrics and cuts.
- Shorter dupattas or stoles behave better in Wellington wind than a long chiffon dupatta; see dupatta sizes and styles.
- Lined winter pieces in khaddar or marina for the South Island from June to August.
Sizes and measurements
New Zealand shop sizes follow the same even numbers as Australia, but they shift from label to label. For a made-to-measure kameez you skip the size altogether and give your measurements in centimetres or inches. The size guide shows each point, and measuring yourself without help is handy if nobody is around to hold the tape.
Tell us how you like things to sit, too. Someone layering a jacket over a kurta every day may want a slightly slimmer sleeve; someone wearing it on its own in Auckland humidity may want a little more ease through the body.
Your fabric, or ours
With Fabric + Stitching for New Zealand, we suggest a fabric for your design and climate and only the finished outfit travels. This is often the simplest route from New Zealand, because it avoids posting fabric halfway round the world.
If you already have an unstitched suit, perhaps a gift or a purchase from a trip, Stitching Only works too. Send daylight photos with your enquiry, wait until we confirm the fabric is suitable, that there is enough and how to send it, and then post it to us in Pakistan yourself. The finished outfit comes back as a second shipment.
Currency, payment and delivery
The quote currency for New Zealand is agreed with you per enquiry. When you approve the written quote, you pay in full in advance by bank transfer, Wise or a card payment link. The quote includes delivery to your address plus any import duties, taxes and customs or courier fees, so the parcel is delivered duty paid. We do not describe New Zealand import rules; we simply include the charges.
Production takes 5 to 7 working days from approval and payment, or from your fabric arriving for Stitching Only. Shipping time is extra and varies, and no delivery date can be promised, so start early for anything with a date attached. For Eid, our guide to Eid outfits in the Southern Hemisphere covers the seasons.
Getting started
Your first enquiry needs only your name, email, city, the garment, how many you want, the fabric route, design images and any notes; the full address comes later, once the order goes ahead. Customers order the same way from Auckland, Wellington or Christchurch. When you are ready, request a quote for New Zealand.
Common questions
Do you deliver Pakistani clothes anywhere in New Zealand?
Yes. Outfits are made in Pakistan and couriered to your address anywhere in New Zealand. There is no shop or tailor of ours in the country, so everything is arranged online.
Is it better to send my fabric from New Zealand or let you supply it?
If you do not already own the fabric, Fabric + Stitching is usually simpler because only one parcel travels. If you have an unstitched suit you love, Stitching Only works once we have confirmed the fabric from your photos.
What should I wear on a windy day in a dupatta?
A shorter dupatta or stole in cotton or a slightly heavier weave stays in place far better than a long, light chiffon one. You can also ask for a dupatta to be finished at a length that suits how you wear it.
