Sending an unstitched suit from the UK for stitching

Should you post your unstitched suit from the UK or let us supply fabric? What qualifies, what to check first, posting options and how the two shipping stages work.

Sending your fabric from the UK, in short

To have an unstitched suit stitched from the UK, you send us photos and details first, wait for our confirmation that the fabric is suitable and sufficient, then post it to us in Pakistan by a tracked service. We cut and stitch it to your agreed measurements and ship the finished outfit back to your UK address. That is our Stitching Only service, and it has two separate shipping stages: yours on the way out, ours on the way back.

Before you queue at the Post Office, though, it is worth asking whether sending is the right choice for this particular suit.

Send it, or let us supply the fabric?

Sending makes sense when the fabric itself is the point: a brand pack you love, a gifted suit, or dress material bought on Belgrave Road in Leicester or Wilmslow Road in Manchester. It also suits a printed design that you could not easily describe.

If you simply want a cream cotton kurta or a deep green winter suit, Fabric + Stitching is often simpler. Only one parcel travels, there is no outbound postage to arrange, and production can start as soon as you approve and pay the quote.

What can be sent

Most fabric bought for women’s clothing can be considered, subject to suitability and quantity.

  • Pakistani brand packs: printed or embroidered two-piece and three-piece suits.
  • Indian dress material: usually sold with a matching dupatta and trouser piece.
  • Fabric by the metre: check our guide to how much fabric a three-piece suit needs before buying.
  • Fabric for embroidery only: if you want embroidery on your own fabric or garment rather than stitching, ask first; it is quoted individually.

Check before you post

Photograph every piece in daylight, with the label or pack card if you have one, and measure the length of each piece. Our guide to photographing fabric for a quote shows which shots help. Send them with your design ideas and measurements through the Stitching Only quote form.

We reply to confirm the fabric is suitable for your design, that there is enough of it, and how to send it. Please do not post anything until you have that confirmation. If a piece is short, it is far easier to change the design while the fabric is still with you.

Posting it from the UK

Unless your quote says otherwise, you arrange this first shipment yourself. A Post Office counter and the major parcel couriers all offer tracked international services; choose one with tracking and keep the receipt.

  • Pack it flat and dry: fold the pieces neatly inside a sealed plastic bag, then a sturdy envelope or box.
  • Put a note inside: your name, email and quote reference, so the parcel is matched to your order.
  • Describe it plainly on the customs form: for example “unstitched cotton suit, three pieces”, with its real value.
  • Share the tracking number with us once it is posted.

What happens next

When your parcel reaches us, the order moves from awaiting fabric to production, and the 5 to 7 working days of making start then. The finished outfit is shipped back to your UK address, and that return journey is already priced into your quote, including any import duties, taxes and customs or courier fees, so nothing is due when it arrives.

For more on the parcel itself, see how to post your fabric for stitching, and for delivery in general, worldwide delivery. The UK page brings it all together.

Common questions

Can I post my unstitched suit straight away?

Please wait. Send photos and details first, and post the fabric only after we confirm it is suitable, that there is enough, and how to send it.

When does stitching start if I send my own fabric?

The 5 to 7 working days of production start once your quote is approved and paid in full and your fabric has reached us in Pakistan.

Do I pay import charges when the finished outfit comes back to the UK?

No. The return delivery and any import duties, taxes and customs or courier fees are included in your written quote, so there is nothing extra to pay when it arrives.

Can I send fabric bought from an Indian shop as well as Pakistani brand packs?

Yes, subject to fabric suitability and sufficient quantity. Indian dress material, Pakistani brand packs and fabric by the metre can all be considered. Send photos and lengths first so we can confirm before you post anything.
