A custom abaya, ordered from anywhere in Oman

Whether you live in Muscat, Sohar, Nizwa or Salalah, you can order a custom abaya from us online. You tell us the design and your measurements, we agree a written quote, and we make the abaya in Pakistan and courier it to your door. We have no shop, studio or appointments in Oman, so there is no need to travel anywhere.

Our Oman page explains ordering from the sultanate in general. One thing is different from our other Gulf markets: for Oman, the quote currency is agreed with you when you first enquire.

Matching the abaya to the region

Oman’s climate changes dramatically from place to place, and the abaya should change with it. In Muscat and along the Batinah coast, humid heat for much of the year calls for loose cuts and fabrics that breathe and do not cling. In Salalah during the khareef, damp, misty weather makes quick-drying fabric and a hem that clears wet ground practical; see our Salalah page. In Nizwa and the interior, dry daytime heat can turn into cool evenings, so a lined abaya or one with room for a light layer underneath is useful.

Tell us where you live and when you will wear the abaya most, and we suggest a fabric weight and lining in the quote. Our page on choosing fabric explains how we approach it.

Details worth considering

Because the abaya is cut for you, small choices make a real difference:

  • Length: a hem just above the ankle stays clean on dusty paths and wet pavements.
  • Sleeves: a cuffed sleeve for daily errands and work; a wider sleeve for evening visits.
  • Lining: a breathable lining only where the fabric needs it, rather than a full synthetic layer.
  • Colour: black, of course, alongside soft browns, deep greens, navy and muted rose for variety.
  • Decoration: delicate, detailed or statement embroidery, lace or borders, confirmed for your fabric in the quote.

Agreeing the currency and the quote

When you enquire from Oman, we agree the quote currency with you, and the written quote is then issued in it. That quote sets out the design, fabric, measurements, total cost, delivery to your address and any import duties, taxes and customs or courier fees, the 5 to 7 working days of production, and the policies that apply. Our article on what your written quote includes explains each part.

Payment is in full and in advance, by bank transfer, Wise or a card payment link, once you approve the quote. Shipping time is separate from production and varies.

If the finished abaya does not match the measurements or design agreed in the quote, and the mistake is ours, we correct or remake it without charging for the work. You need to tell us within seven days of delivery, and you cover the postage in both directions. Because everything is agreed in writing before cutting, it is worth reading the quote slowly and asking about anything that is unclear.

Your fabric or ours

If you have bought fabric in Muttrah Souq or elsewhere, the Oman stitching page explains how Stitching Only works: we confirm the fabric suits your design and that there is enough, then you send it to us, and production starts when it arrives. If you would rather we supply the fabric, the Oman Fabric + Stitching page covers that route.

Starting your order from Oman

Take your measurements with our size guide, gather any photos of abayas you like, and send your request through the Oman quote form. For more on the abaya service itself, see custom abayas, and for the occasion that suits it, our Eid abaya ideas.

Common questions

What currency will my Oman quote be in?

For Oman the quote currency is agreed with you when you enquire, and the written quote is issued in that currency before you pay.

Is delivery to Oman included in the quote?

Yes. The written quote includes delivery to your address and any import duties, taxes and customs or courier fees, so there is nothing to pay when the parcel arrives.

Which fabric suits an abaya for Salalah in the khareef?

A fabric that dries quickly and does not cling when damp is most comfortable, with a hem that clears wet ground. We confirm a suitable fabric in the written quote.
