Ordering a made-to-measure abaya from the UK
How to order a made-to-measure abaya from the UK: GBP quotes, paying in advance, posting your own fabric to Pakistan, delivery with charges included, and UK weather.
InspirationWhy order a made-to-measure abaya in the UK
If you live in Britain, you can order a made-to-measure abaya from us online: you send your measurements and design, we agree everything in a written quote in pounds sterling, and we make the abaya in Pakistan and ship it to your door. We have no shop or studio in Britain, and there is nothing to try on in person; the whole order happens by email and the quote form.
The usual reason to go made to order is fit. High street and online abayas tend to come in a few fixed lengths, which leaves taller women showing ankle and petite women hemming every purchase. A custom length abaya, cut to your height, shoulders and arm length, solves that once. Our UK page explains ordering from Britain in general; this article is about abayas specifically.
Planning for British weather
An abaya in the UK has to work in rain, wind and a long cold season, as well as the occasional heatwave. Some practical choices:
- Layering room: if you wear a jumper or a long-sleeved inner dress underneath in winter, measure over it or mention it so the abaya is not tight.
- Heavier fabric for winter: a denser crepe-like fabric, or a lined abaya, keeps the wind out far better than a single layer of chiffon. Our winter fabrics guide compares warmer options.
- Hem length: just above the ankle avoids wet, muddy hems on pavements and station platforms.
- Coat compatibility: a narrower sleeve slides into a coat sleeve; a wide one bunches up.
Two ways to order
Fabric + Stitching means we supply the fabric agreed in your quote and make the abaya. The UK Fabric + Stitching page explains this route. It is the simplest option if you have not already bought fabric.
Stitching Only means you supply the fabric. We first confirm it is suitable and that there is enough, and only then do you post it to us in Pakistan; that first shipment is yours to arrange. When it arrives we make the abaya and ship it back. The UK stitching page and our guide to posting your fabric cover the details.
Quote, payment and charges
UK customers receive their quote in GBP and pay in GBP. Payment is in full, in advance, by bank transfer, Wise or a card payment link, before any cutting begins. The written quote shows the agreed design, fabric, measurements, total cost, delivery arrangements and the policies that apply.
Delivery to your UK address is included in the quote, together with any import duties, taxes and customs or courier fees, so the parcel arrives with nothing further to pay. If a paid order is cancelled before cutting, it is refunded less any fabric already bought for it; once cutting has started there is no refund. Our payment and cancellations page sets this out in full.
Timing around UK Eid and Ramadan
Production is 5 to 7 working days after your quote is approved and paid, or after your fabric reaches us for Stitching Only. International shipping is added on top and varies, so order well before Eid or Ramadan, when everyone else in Bradford, Birmingham and London is also planning outfits. Our Eid timeline helps you work backwards from the date.
Getting started from the UK
Measure yourself with our measuring help, in centimetres or inches, and gather any reference photos of abayas you like. Then fill in the UK abaya quote request, or choose Stitching Only if you are sending your own fabric. A single abaya is a normal order, and the custom abaya service page summarises what we make.
Common questions
Do UK customers pay in pounds?
Yes. UK quotes are issued in GBP and paid in full in advance by bank transfer, Wise or a card payment link.
Can I post my own fabric to you from the UK?
Yes, through Stitching Only. We confirm the fabric is suitable and that there is enough before you post it to us in Pakistan, and you arrange that first shipment yourself.
Will I pay anything when my abaya arrives in the UK?
No. The written quote includes delivery to your address and any import duties, taxes and customs or courier fees, so there is nothing extra to pay on delivery.
Can I try the abaya on before it is finished?
No. We have no presence in the UK, so nothing is tried on before it is finished. The abaya is cut from the measurements you send, and every design detail and measurement is agreed in writing before cutting.
