Ramadan in Kuwait: modest outfits for ghabga evenings
Ramadan outfits for Kuwait: comfortable kurtas for fasting days, practical pieces for taraweeh, and dressier suits for ghabga gatherings, made to your measurements.
InspirationRamadan outfits in Kuwait: three kinds of day
Ramadan outfits in Kuwait need to cover three quite different situations: quiet fasting days at home or at work, evenings at the mosque for taraweeh, and the late-night ghabga, when families and friends gather over food after iftar. One wardrobe can handle all three if you plan it: easy cotton kurtas for the day, prayer-friendly cuts for the evening, and one or two dressier suits for gatherings. Order before the month begins, so that you are not chasing parcels while fasting.
We make each piece to your measurements in Pakistan and courier it to your address in Kuwait. The Kuwait page explains how ordering works from there.
Fasting days: comfort above everything
When you are fasting, you notice every tight waistband and scratchy seam. A straight or A-line kameez with a little extra ease, in breathable lawn or cambric, keeps you comfortable through the afternoon slump. Elasticated or drawstring trousers are easier than a fixed waist. Because Ramadan moves about eleven days earlier each year, check whether this year’s month falls in Kuwait’s heat or its milder season before choosing fabric weight.
Our general guide to Ramadan outfits covers fabrics in more depth; here we focus on what works in Kuwait’s routine.
Taraweeh and prayer-friendly details
Long evenings of prayer reward a few thoughtful details. Ask for these in your quote:
- Sleeves you can push up for wudu: a sleeve that is not too tight at the forearm rolls up easily. See the sleeve guide.
- Enough room to kneel and sit: generous side slits and a relaxed hip mean the kameez does not pull when you bow or sit on the floor.
- A long kameez: below the knee or mid-calf for coverage when you sit. Our modest dressing guide shows how sleeves, necklines and lengths work together.
- Pockets: somewhere for a phone, tasbih or car key; see adding pockets.
- A wide, light dupatta that stays in place as a head covering.
Ghabga gatherings: a step up
The ghabga is a sociable, late-night meal, hosted at home or in a hotel, and guests often dress with some care. It is not a wedding, so heavy formal wear can look out of place; think of something between everyday and Eid. A cotton silk or marina kameez in a rich colour, a neckline with delicate embroidery, and a chiffon dupatta would all suit.
If you host, choose something you can move around in while serving: three-quarter sleeves, a kameez that clears the floor and a dupatta you can pin. Our dawat and dinner-party guide has ideas for both hosts and guests.
Abayas over your outfit
Many women in Kuwait wear an abaya over a kurta when going out during Ramadan. If you would like a made-to-measure abaya to go with your outfits, we make abayas as Fabric + Stitching or Stitching Only, quoted individually; see custom abayas. The length, sleeves and cut are agreed in writing, and anything else you would like is something to ask for in the quote.
Planning around the month
Work out how many outfits you really need. Many people find three or four day kurtas, one or two prayer outfits and one ghabga suit enough, with Eid ordered separately. Several pieces can share one set of measurements on one request. If you like one of our designs but want longer sleeves or a different neckline, customisation for Kuwait covers those changes.
Once you approve and pay the quote in full, we make the pieces in 5 to 7 working days, and courier time to Hawalli, Farwaniya or wherever you live follows. The quote is in US dollars, euros or pounds, as you choose, and includes delivery and any import charges. Start on the Kuwait quote form.
Common questions
When should I order Ramadan outfits from Kuwait?
Before the month starts if you can. Making takes 5 to 7 working days from approval and full payment, and courier time to Kuwait is added. Ordering early also leaves room to order Eid outfits afterwards.
What should I wear to a ghabga?
Something a step above everyday but below Eid: a richer fabric, a colour you love and light embroidery at the neckline or sleeves usually works well.
Can my kurta be made with pockets and a looser sleeve for prayer?
Yes, you can ask for both in your quote, and the details are agreed in writing before cutting.
