Science, study and everyday wear
Basel’s life-sciences employers and its university, the oldest in Switzerland, mean many women here spend the day in labs, offices or seminar rooms. A practical kurta with three-quarter sleeves that stay out of the way, side slits for easy movement and straight or wide-leg trousers suits that rhythm. A cambric co-ord with a buttoned placket and wide-leg trousers is a comfortable everyday option.
Rhine summers and carnival winters
In summer, people float down the Rhine and dry off on the steps of the Kleinbasel bank, and a light lawn set is right for those warm evenings. Winter is colder and greyer, and in late winter Basel Fasnacht fills the old town with masks, piccolos and drums from the 4 a.m. Morgestraich onwards; a lined khaddar kameez under a warm coat keeps you comfortable outside. For Eid or a dinner at home, plan something dressier and tell us your date early.
Sending fabric and ordering from Basel
Living so close to the French and German borders, some Basel residents shop across them, but the parcel we send is addressed to you in Switzerland and our quote covers its delivery and any import charges. Can you deliver to an address just over the border instead?
Tell us the address when you ask for a quote. Delivery and any import charges are worked out for the country the parcel goes to, and they are included in the written quote you approve.
Is there a place in Basel to try on my outfit?
No. We have no shop or measuring service in Basel. You measure at home with the size guide, and the numbers are agreed with you in writing before we cut.
