Made to measure for the far north

Ordering made-to-measure Pakistani suits in Norway, Sweden or Denmark works entirely online: you send your design and measurements, choose a quote in euros, US dollars or pounds sterling, pay in full once you approve it, and the outfit is stitched in Pakistan and shipped to your door with import charges included. We have no shop or tailor in Scandinavia. The real question here is not how to order but what to order for months of cold and darkness.

Oslo has a long-established Pakistani community, and Stockholm and Copenhagen have smaller ones, yet good stitching for a shalwar kameez is still hard to find in most towns. The Norway, Sweden and Denmark pages each give the local overview.

Winter fabrics that earn their place

A Scandinavian winter runs from November to March, so winter pieces get far more wear here than in most of Europe. Choose fabrics with body:

  • Khaddar for everyday warmth with a soft, matt look; see the khaddar guide.
  • Karandi when you want something smarter for work or visits.
  • Velvet for winter weddings and Eid evenings. The velvet guide explains how it is cut and cared for.
  • Lining in almost everything, because it adds a layer of warmth as well as coverage.

Layers under the coat

Scandinavians dress in layers, and a shalwar kameez works well with that habit. A thin wool base layer under a lined kameez keeps you warm outdoors without overheating in a heated flat, and straight trousers or cigarette pants fit inside winter boots. Ask for full sleeves cut slim enough to slip into a coat, and think about a kameez length that works with the coat you actually own.

A wide chiffon dupatta is not much use on an icy street. Many people switch to a wool shawl outdoors and keep the dupatta for indoors, which is worth bearing in mind when you choose colours: a shawl in a shade from the kameez print makes the whole outfit look planned. Our guide to matching dupatta and trouser colours helps.

The short, bright summer

Summer is short but long-lit, and warm days in June and July are when weddings, Eid gatherings and garden parties cluster. Lawn and cotton work, but evenings cool quickly, so three-quarter sleeves and a light shawl are sensible. If you want one outfit for a summer celebration, a lined cotton silk handles both a warm afternoon and a cool evening.

Paying from a kroner account

Customers in Norway, Sweden and Denmark choose a quote in euros, US dollars or pounds sterling. If your account is in kroner, your bank or card issuer converts the payment at its own rate, so it is worth checking which currency it handles most cheaply. Payment is in full in advance by bank transfer, Wise or a card payment link.

Sweden and Denmark are in the EU, where imported goods are subject to VAT (European Commission). Norway is outside the EU and has its own rules, set out on the Norway page. Wherever you are, the written quote includes delivery and any import duties, taxes and customs or courier fees, so nothing is due on arrival.

Ordering and timing

With Fabric + Stitching for Norway, we suggest a winter fabric and only one parcel travels. If you already own an unstitched winter suit, the stitching page for Sweden explains how Stitching Only works: photos first, our confirmation, then you post it to us. Production takes 5 to 7 working days from approval and payment (or from your fabric arriving), and shipping is extra and varies, so order winter pieces by early autumn.

Customers order the same way from Oslo, Stockholm and Copenhagen. Ask for a quote and tell us how cold your winters get.

Common questions

Which Pakistani fabrics are warm enough for a Scandinavian winter?

Khaddar and velvet are the warmest of the usual choices, with karandi a smarter middle weight. Lining the kameez and wearing a thin wool layer underneath makes a real difference outdoors.

Can I pay in Norwegian, Swedish or Danish kroner?

Quotes for Europe are issued in euros, US dollars or pounds sterling, whichever you choose. If you pay from a kroner account, your bank converts the amount.

Will I pay import charges when my parcel arrives in Norway?

No. Norway has its own import rules, but your written quote includes delivery and any import duties, taxes and customs or courier fees, so there is nothing to pay on arrival.
