Ordering from Sweden
The questions customers ask before their first order, answered for your country.
What can I order?
Made-to-measure women’s clothing, cut and stitched to your own measurements. That covers three-piece and two-piece shalwar kameez, kurtas and kameez, co-ords, Eid outfits, casual party wear and Western pieces such as dresses, skirts, tops and trousers. For a Swedish winter a lined khaddar or karandi suit is worth considering, while a plain kurta with straight trousers sits comfortably in the calm, minimal way many offices in Sweden dress.
Can I order just one suit?
Yes. Our minimum order is one suit, made to your agreed measurements and design. There are no free samples, so the fabric, cut and finishing are agreed through your photos, notes and written quote before anything is made. One warm suit for winter, or a single outfit for Eid, delivered to one address in Sweden is a perfectly ordinary order.
Can you provide the fabric?
Yes. With Fabric + Stitching, we supply the agreed fabric and make the outfit for you. Tell us the colours, weight and feel you want, for example a warm khaddar for January or a light lawn for midsummer, and the fabric is confirmed in your quote. Nothing then needs to be posted from Sweden; the only parcel is your finished outfit.
Can I send my own fabric?
Yes, subject to fabric suitability and sufficient quantity. This is our Stitching Only service, and sending your fabric from Sweden to Pakistan and receiving the finished garment are two separate shipping stages. Please contact us to confirm the fabric, the quantity and the arrangements before you send anything; the parcel leaves the EU, so use a tracked international service and fill in the customs declaration accurately.
How do I submit my measurements?
Enter them on the quote form, in centimetres or inches. Centimetres match the tape measure most people in Sweden own, though inches are accepted too. Your own measurements tell us far more than a Swedish label size such as 36 or 38, which follows the continental EU scale rather than UK sizing.
How are the design and fit agreed?
In writing, before any cutting starts. We confirm the design details and your measurements with you in writing, and nothing is cut until you have agreed them. There are no in-person appointments or try-ons in Sweden, so photos of a kameez that already fits you well, and notes such as whether you want room for a thermal layer underneath, are genuinely useful.
Where is the clothing made?
Our garments are made in Pakistan and shipped internationally. We have no shop, studio or workroom in Stockholm or anywhere else in Sweden; everything is arranged online, and your finished outfit is shipped to your address.
How are production time and shipping costs confirmed?
Both are confirmed in your written quote. Production time and the cost of shipping to Sweden depend on the garments, the service option and the delivery method, so we set them out for your order rather than publishing a standard figure. If you are planning for Eid or for midsummer, mention the date when you ask for a quote.
Who handles import charges?
We do. Your written quote includes delivery to your address in Sweden and any import duties, taxes and customs fees there, so there is nothing extra to pay when your parcel arrives. Sweden is in the EU, where VAT applies to all imported goods and a new temporary flat customs duty applies to low-value parcels from outside the EU; whichever apply when Swedish Customs, Tullverket, clears your parcel are covered in your quote.
How do I request a quote?
Use the Request a Custom Quote form at /quote, which has Sweden already selected as your country when you open it from this page. Fill in your city, the garment, quantity, service option, measurements, design images and notes, and we reply with a written quote. Your full delivery address is only taken once the order goes ahead.

Sending fabric from Sweden for Stitching Only
Perhaps you have an unstitched three-piece from a Pakistani brand, ordered online or brought back from a family trip to Lahore or Karachi, or cotton and linen bought by the metre from a Swedish fabric shop. Either can be made up with our unstitched suit stitching service, as long as there is enough of it for your design; how much fabric a three-piece suit needs helps you check before you buy.
Before you post anything, send us daylight photos of each piece so we can confirm the fabric is suitable and that the quantity is right. In a Swedish winter, a window at midday gives the truest colour, and our guide to photographing fabric for a quote shows what else helps. Once the arrangements are agreed, send the fabric to Pakistan by a tracked international service. Pakistan is outside the EU, so the parcel needs a customs declaration: describe the contents accurately, for example “unstitched cotton suit fabric, three pieces”. How to post your fabric for stitching walks through the paperwork.
That is the first of two shipping stages. Your finished outfit comes to you as a separate international shipment, and that is the parcel Swedish customs deals with; its delivery and any import charges are included in your quote. If you would rather skip the first stage entirely, choose Fabric + Stitching and we supply the fabric.
Delivery to Sweden and EU import charges
Your outfit is shipped from Pakistan to your address in Sweden. Production time, the delivery method and the shipping cost are all confirmed in your written quote before you approve anything.
Because the parcel comes from outside the EU, EU import rules apply. Since 1 July 2021 all goods imported into the EU are subject to VAT, and it is paid either through the seller’s registration in the EU’s IOSS scheme or when the parcel is imported, as the European Commission’s guidance on low-value consignments explains. From 1 July 2026, the EU also applies a temporary customs duty of €3 for each category of goods on low-value consignments (up to €150) from outside the EU, until 1 July 2028, and the previous €150 duty exemption has been abolished; see the Commission’s announcement and the Council’s decision.
In Sweden, imports are handled by Swedish Customs, Tullverket, and VAT goes by its Swedish name, moms. With us, the moms, the flat EU duty and any courier handling fee are already included in your quote, so there is nothing extra to pay when your parcel arrives. If a courier ever asks you for payment on delivery, contact us before paying anything. Our guide to ordering from Europe covers the same EU rules, while neighbouring Norway is outside the EU and has its own page and its own rules.
Swedish sizes, centimetres and the words you will see
Swedish shops use continental EU sizes, so a 36 or 38 on a label is not a UK size, and two brands can cut the same number quite differently. No label tells us where your kameez should fall or how long your sleeves are, and those lengths matter more once winter layers go underneath. Measure yourself in centimetres with the size guide and our measuring guide, and give us the lengths you actually want. UK, EU and US dress sizes for a kameez explains why a label is never enough.
In Swedish, clothing made to measure is måttsydda kläder, a tailor is a skräddare and a seamstress is a sömmerska. Whether you have seen the outfit called a salwar kameez, a shalwar kameez or simply a Pakistani suit, it is the same thing: a kameez, trousers and usually a dupatta. Our custom stitching page explains everything we make.
Long winters, warm rooms and midsummer light
Swedish winters are long, dark and cold, more so the further north you go, yet homes, offices and lecture halls are kept warm. That makes layering the key: a kameez that is comfortable at a desk and still slides under a heavy coat on the walk home. A mid-weight cambric or linen, lined if the fabric is thin, often works better indoors than the heaviest cloth, while khaddar, karandi and marina come into their own on the coldest days. Our winter fabrics guide compares them, and slim sleeves and trousers with room for a thermal layer are worth adding to your notes.
The Islamic calendar moves about eleven days earlier each year, so for the next few years Eid al-Fitr falls in February or March, when an Eid outfit in Sweden needs to be warm as well as festive. Plan backwards from the date with our Eid outfit timeline. Summer, by contrast, is short and bright, and around midsummer the evenings barely get dark; one or two lawn suits or a cotton co-ord cover it.
Ordering works the same way anywhere in the country, from Stockholm to Gothenburg, Malmö, Uppsala or Umeå. The Europe overview covers other destinations, and when you are ready, request a quote.

Elsewhere in Europe
Do you have a shop or studio in Stockholm?
No. We have no shop, studio or measuring service in Stockholm or anywhere else in Sweden. Everything is ordered online, made in Pakistan to the measurements you send, and delivered to your address.
Can I just give you my Swedish size?
Measurements work much better. A Swedish 38 is on the continental EU scale, not the UK one, and two brands can cut a 38 quite differently. Measure in centimetres with the size guide, enter the numbers on the quote form, and we agree them with you in writing before cutting.
Which fabrics suit a Swedish winter?
Khaddar, karandi and marina are the warm choices for the coldest months, and a lining adds more. Because Swedish homes and offices are kept warm, a mid-weight fabric layered under a good coat can be more comfortable indoors, so tell us where you will wear the outfit and we suggest fabrics in your quote.
