Norway is not in the EU, so this page explains the Norwegian import rules that apply to your parcel, along with Norwegian sizes, the words you will see and dressing for a proper Nordic winter.

Ordering from Norway
The questions customers ask before their first order, answered for your country.
What can I order?
Made-to-measure women’s clothing, cut and stitched to your own measurements. That covers three-piece and two-piece shalwar kameez, kurtas and kameez, co-ords, Eid outfits, casual party wear and Western pieces such as dresses, skirts, tops and trousers. In Norway, a lined winter suit in khaddar or karandi and one or two lawn sets for the light summer evenings cover most of the year between them.
Can I order just one suit?
Yes. Our minimum order is one suit, made to your agreed measurements and design. There are no free samples, so the fabric, cut and finishing are agreed through your photos, notes and written quote before anything is made. A single warm suit for winter, or one outfit for Eid, is a perfectly ordinary order to send to Norway.
Can you provide the fabric?
Yes. With Fabric + Stitching, we supply the agreed fabric and make the outfit for you. Describe the warmth, colours and feel you want, perhaps a karandi to see you through an Oslo January, and the fabric is confirmed in your quote. Nothing then has to be posted from Norway; the only parcel is your finished outfit.
Can I send my own fabric?
Yes, subject to fabric suitability and sufficient quantity. This is our Stitching Only service, and sending your fabric from Norway to Pakistan and receiving the finished garment are two separate shipping stages. Please contact us to confirm the fabric, the quantity and the arrangements before you send anything, then use a tracked international service and complete the customs declaration accurately.
How do I submit my measurements?
Enter them on the quote form, in centimetres or inches. Centimetres are what most tape measures in Norway show, though inches are accepted too. Your own measurements matter far more than a Norwegian label size such as 36 or 38, which follows the continental EU scale rather than UK sizing.
How are the design and fit agreed?
In writing, before any cutting starts. We confirm the design details and your measurements with you in writing, and nothing is cut until you have agreed them. There are no in-person appointments or try-ons in Norway, so photos of a kameez that already fits you well, and notes about the wool or thermal layer you wear underneath in winter, are genuinely useful.
Where is the clothing made?
Our garments are made in Pakistan and shipped internationally. We have no shop, studio or workroom in Oslo or anywhere else in Norway; everything is arranged online, and your finished outfit is shipped to your address.
How are production time and shipping costs confirmed?
Both are confirmed in your written quote. Production time and the cost of shipping to Norway depend on the garments, the service option and the delivery method, so we set them out for your order instead of publishing a standard figure. If you have a date in mind, such as Eid or a family celebration, put it on the form.
Who handles import charges?
We do. Your written quote includes delivery to your address in Norway and any import duties, taxes and customs fees there, so there is nothing extra to pay when your parcel arrives. Norway is not in the EU, and Norwegian Customs, Tolletaten, says import VAT applies to goods from abroad, clothing is one of the few goods subject to customs duty, and carriers normally charge a handling fee; all of these are covered in your quote.
How do I request a quote?
Use the Request a Custom Quote form at /quote; opened from this page, it has Norway already selected as your country. Add your city, the garment, quantity, service option, measurements, design images and notes, and we reply with a written quote. Your full delivery address is only needed once the order goes ahead.

Sending fabric from Norway for Stitching Only
Oslo has one of the longest-established Pakistani communities in Scandinavia, and the shops around Grønland are a natural place to look for unstitched suits, dupattas and trimmings. A suit bought there, ordered online from a Pakistani brand or brought back from a family trip to Lahore or Karachi can be made up with our unstitched suit stitching service, as long as there is enough of it; how much fabric a three-piece suit needs helps you check.
Before you post anything, send us daylight photos of every piece so we can confirm the fabric is suitable and that the quantity is right for your design; our guide to photographing fabric for a quote shows what helps. Once the arrangements are agreed, send the fabric to Pakistan by a tracked international service. A parcel from Norway to Pakistan needs a customs declaration, so describe the contents accurately, for example “unstitched cotton suit fabric, three pieces”. How to post your fabric for stitching walks through the paperwork.
That is the first of two shipping stages. Your finished outfit travels to you as a separate international shipment, and that is the parcel that goes through Norwegian customs; its delivery and any import charges are included in your quote. To skip the first stage entirely, choose Fabric + Stitching and we supply the fabric.
Delivery to Norway: outside the EU, with its own rules
Your outfit is shipped from Pakistan to your address in Norway, and production time, the delivery method and the shipping cost are confirmed in your written quote before you approve anything.
Norway is not a member of the EU, so the EU import rules described on our other European pages do not apply here; Norwegian rules do. Imports are handled by Norwegian Customs, Tolletaten, and VAT is merverdiavgift, usually shortened to MVA. According to Tolletaten’s guidance on online shopping, import VAT applies to goods from abroad, clothing is one of the few types of goods subject to customs duty, and carriers normally charge a fee for customs handling.
With us, the MVA, the customs duty on clothing and the carrier’s customs-handling fee are all included in your quote, so there is nothing extra to pay when your parcel arrives. If a courier ever asks you for payment on delivery, contact us before paying anything. The Europe overview covers other European destinations.
Norwegian sizes, centimetres and the words you will see
Norwegian shops use continental EU sizes, so a 36 or 38 on a label is not a UK size, and brands cut the same number differently. A label says nothing about how long your sleeves are or where your kameez should fall, which matters even more once a wool layer goes underneath. Measure yourself in centimetres with the size guide and our measuring guide. UK, EU and US dress sizes for a kameez explains why a label is never enough, and measuring in inches or centimetres helps if a relative has jotted your numbers down in inches.
In Norwegian, tailor-made clothing is skreddersydde klær, a tailor is a skredder and a seamstress is a syerske. Whether you write shalwar kameez, salwar kameez or simply pakistanske klær, it is the same outfit: a kameez, trousers and usually a dupatta. Our custom stitching page explains everything we make.
No bad weather, only the wrong clothes
Norwegians like to say “det finnes ikke dårlig vær, bare dårlige klær”: there is no bad weather, only bad clothes. A Norwegian winter tests that properly. Oslo’s winters are cold, dark and often snowy, while Bergen on the west coast is known for its rain. Khaddar, karandi and marina come into their own here: they hold warmth, drape well and take a lining. A fully lined kameez, trousers with room for a thermal or wool layer and sleeves that slide under a coat without bunching turn a suit into real winter wear; our winter fabrics guide compares the options.
Summers are short, light and mild, so one or two lawn or cotton sets for the long evenings are usually plenty. For rainy Bergen, darker or printed fabrics forgive a wet walk far better than pale plain ones.
Ordering works the same way anywhere in Norway, from Oslo to Bergen, Trondheim, Stavanger or Drammen. Neighbouring Sweden is in the EU and has its own page, and when you are ready, request a quote.

Elsewhere in Europe
Do you have a shop in Oslo or Grønland?
No. We have no shop, studio or measuring service in Grønland, elsewhere in Oslo or anywhere in Norway. Everything is ordered online, made in Pakistan to the measurements you send, and delivered to your address.
Do EU import rules apply to parcels to Norway?
No. Norway is not in the EU, so Norwegian rules apply instead. Norwegian Customs, Tolletaten, explains that import VAT applies to goods from abroad, that clothing is one of the few goods subject to customs duty and that carriers normally charge a handling fee. Your quote includes all of these, along with delivery, so there is nothing extra to pay when your parcel arrives.
Is khaddar warm enough for a Norwegian winter?
Indoors, yes, especially with a lining. Outdoors you will still want a proper coat, so ask for sleeves that slide under it without bunching and trousers with room for a thermal layer, and we agree those details with you in writing.
