Fancy work and embellishment in Spain
Fancy work is how we add embroidery, lace or a border to an outfit we stitch for you. Eid moves through the seasons, and in Spain it can land in the full heat of summer, with gatherings spilling out onto a terrace, so the right amount of embellishment here is often less than you would choose for a cold winter evening. It is never offered on its own, only as part of an outfit we make.

Matching the level to the season
Delicate work, at the neckline or on the sleeves, suits a lawn suit for a hot day in Seville or Valencia: it adds a finish without weight. Detailed work on the neckline, sleeves and hem looks right for an Eid lunch indoors or a cooler spring evening. Statement work, the bolder level for Eid and parties, is best on a fabric with enough body to carry it, such as linen, karandi or velvet, and is easiest to wear in the cooler months.
Lace and borders on a light fabric
A lace trim at the sleeve, or a border along the hem and the dupatta edge, can dress up a plain lawn without making it any warmer, which makes both useful in a Spanish summer. Guest at a wedding or an Eid party
If you are a guest at a summer wedding, a mehndi or an Eid party in Madrid or Barcelona, statement work on a lighter base can work, as long as you tell us the date and the setting. A long kameez with an embroidered front panel, and an angrakha finished with a fine border, show two quite different approaches. The embellishment is quoted together with the outfit, in euros, US dollars or pounds.

On the quote form, pick delicate (neckline or sleeves), detailed (neckline, sleeves and hem), statement (bolder work for Eid and parties), or ask us to advise.

Show us the look
Add a reference photo of the embroidery, lace or border you like. What is possible on your fabric and design is confirmed in your written quote.

Agreed before cutting
The placement and amount of embellishment are agreed in writing with the rest of the design, and quoted as part of the outfit.

Made with the outfit
The work is done in Pakistan as part of stitching your outfit, which is then shipped to you. We do not embroider garments on their own.

Fancy work questions
Can you embroider a kurta I already own?
No. Fancy work is only done on an outfit we are stitching for you, so it is added during making and agreed in the same quote as the rest of the design.
Is heavy embroidery comfortable in a Spanish summer?
It adds weight and warmth, so for a summer event we usually suggest delicate or detailed work on a breathable fabric. Statement work is easier to wear on a cooler evening.
