Humid heat and mild winters
Valencia’s summers are hot, and the sea keeps the air heavy and humid, often well into September. That is lawn and voile weather: a loose straight or A-line kameez, elbow or three-quarter sleeves, and a cotton lining only where a pale print is sheer. Winters are mild and bright, so a cambric or linen kameez with a light shawl covers most days, and heavy khaddar is rarely needed. Campus, office and the Fallas
With the University of Valencia and the Universitat Politècnica (UPV), this is a big student city, and a short cotton kurta over jeans or a relaxed co-ord works for lectures and for cycling along the Turia. For the office, a knee-length kurta with straight trousers looks smart without feeling heavy. In March, when the Fallas fill the streets for days, a comfortable cotton set with a layer for the evenings is a practical choice, and custom stitching covers Western pieces too.
Ordering from Valencia
Choose Fabric + Stitching and nothing has to be posted from Valencia. For Stitching Only, send photos with your quote request and wait until we confirm the fabric, the quantity and the sending arrangements; the fabric then goes to Pakistan by a tracked service with an accurate customs declaration, and the finished outfit travels to you as a separate shipment. Your written quote is issued in euros, US dollars or pounds, as you choose, and includes delivery and any import charges, such as IVA and the EU’s flat duty on low-value parcels, so there is nothing extra to pay when your parcel arrives. Do you have a shop in Valencia?
No. There is no shop, studio or measuring service in Valencia. Everything is ordered online: you send your measurements, we agree the design in writing, and your outfit is made in Pakistan and delivered to your address.
Can I cycle in a shalwar kameez?
Yes, with the right cut. Ask for side slits that stop at a comfortable height and straight or cigarette trousers rather than a very full shalwar, and keep the dupatta light or pinned. The details are agreed in writing before cutting.
