Layers for the Arctic winter

In Tromsø, a kameez is the middle layer, not the outer one. Underneath goes a thermal or wool base layer; on top, a heavy coat, boots and often snow trousers. So the kameez should be cut with a little ease for the layer below, sleeves narrow enough for coat sleeves, and a length that tucks neatly under a parka. Eid as the light returns

For the next few years Eid al-Fitr falls in February or March, when the sun is back but snow still covers the city. A rich, dark velvet or a lined karandi suit with full sleeves keeps Eid festive in those conditions. In summer, under the midnight sun, a cotton co-ord is enough on mild days.

Planning around distance

Shipping time varies by destination and is never part of the making time, so if you have a date in mind, put it on the quote form and order early. Making takes 5 to 7 working days once your quote is paid in full; shipping comes on top. The Norway page explains the Norwegian import charges your quote already includes. Can you make a kameez to wear over a wool base layer?

Yes. Say so in your notes and give your measurements as normal; we agree the ease and sleeve width with you in writing before cutting, so the kameez sits comfortably over the layer.

Can I send my own fabric from Tromsø?

Yes, once we have confirmed from your photos that it is suitable and enough, and agreed how to send it. You arrange the tracked courier to Pakistan, and the finished outfit comes back as a separate shipment.
