An oceanic climate
The weather comes off the ocean: mild, frequently wet and rarely extreme in either direction. That makes mid-weight cotton the workhorse, with cambric for most of the year and linen for warmer spells. A lined kameez under a raincoat sees you through November to March, and dark or printed fabric forgives a damp hem better than pale plain cotton. Tell us if you wear boots so the trousers can sit neatly over them.
