Parma · Italy
Made-to-measure clothing delivered to Parma
Parma lends its name to two of Italy’s most famous foods, and its opera house, the Teatro Regio, has an audience devoted to Verdi, who was born nearby, and known for being hard to please. It is a compact, elegant city where many people walk or cycle to work. The Gilded Seam makes women’s clothing to your measurements in Pakistan and delivers it to your address in Parma.

Ordering from Parma
Sizes, customs rules and sending fabric from Italy: ordering from Italy.
An elegant everyday wardrobe
Parma dresses with care, and a well-cut kurta fits in naturally. A knee-length straight kurta in linen or cambric with cigarette trousers works for an office in the centre or a day at the University of Parma. A calf-length kameez with a band collar is right for a night at the opera or a family dinner; pick a lighter embroidery level if you want it dressy without weight.
Weather on the Po plain
Winters are cold and often foggy, so a khaddar or karandi kameez with full sleeves, lined if the weave is loose, makes sense from November to February. Summers are hot and close; lawn, voile and linen cut loose are the most comfortable, with elbow sleeves and palazzo or wide-leg trousers. Our palazzo trousers guide shows that shape.
Sending your fabric, or using ours
If you have an unstitched suit from Pakistan, or fabric bought by the metre, send photos with your quote request and wait for us to confirm before posting. You arrange the courier to Pakistan, describe the fabric accurately on the customs form and keep the tracking number. With Fabric + Stitching, we supply the fabric and you skip that step. Either way, your written quote covers delivery to Parma and any IVA or EU customs duty, and Modena is covered on its own page.

FAQ
Parma questions
What should I wear to the opera in Parma?
A calf-length kameez in linen, or in velvet for a winter evening, with straight trousers and delicate or detailed embroidery, is elegant without being too much. Tell us the season, and the fabric is agreed in your quote.
Is there somewhere in Parma where I can be measured?
No. There is no shop, studio or measuring appointment in Parma. You measure at home in centimetres or inches, and the measurements are agreed in writing before cutting.
