Bridges, boots and practical lengths
Walking is the only way around the historic city, and every bridge means a flight of steps. A kameez with side slits cut high enough to climb comfortably, straight or cigarette trousers that sit over boots on a wet day, and a dupatta you can pin in place all make life easier. On days of acqua alta, a slightly shorter trouser length keeps hems dry, and you can set it on the quote form. Our guide to straight trousers shows the shape.
Damp winters, humid summers
The lagoon keeps the air moist all year. In winter, fog and raw, damp days call for khaddar or a lined cambric kameez with full sleeves under a coat; in summer, lawn and voile cut loose, with a cotton lining only where a light print shows through, are the most comfortable. Ca’ Foscari, IUAV and ordering
Ca’ Foscari teaches Asian languages and cultures alongside economics and the humanities, and IUAV trains architects and designers, so student life is part of the city. A short kurta over jeans works for lectures; for a smarter day, a knee-length kurta and straight trousers. Venice questions
Can you deliver to an address in the historic centre of Venice?
Yes. The outfit is shipped to the address you give us when the order goes ahead, whether it is in the historic centre, on the Lido, on the Giudecca or in Mestre. The delivery method is set out in your written quote.
Is there anywhere in Venice where I can be measured?
No. We have no shop, studio or tailor in Venice or anywhere else in Italy. You measure at home with the size guide, and the measurements are agreed with you in writing before cutting.
