Fabrics for a gentle climate
With few really hot or really cold days, Victoria suits mid-weight fabrics most of the year. Linen and cambric are comfortable from spring to autumn, and lawn for the warmest weeks. In the damp winter, a lined khaddar kameez is usually enough under a raincoat; heavy velvet is rarely needed except for a dressy evening.
A straight three-piece in cambric is an all-year staple, and our tiered chiffon maxi dress, with a lining, suits a summer garden party.
Government offices and the university
