Formal days among ministries and UN offices
International organisations bring a mix of dress codes, and a well-cut kurta fits most of them. For meetings, choose a plain fabric in a dark or neutral shade, a band collar or a shallow round neck, full sleeves and a calf length over straight trousers; office wear kurtas has more on this. A straight three-piece becomes very formal with a band collar, a darker fabric and the dupatta left out.
Blossom, Rhine summers and mild winters
Bonn sits in a sheltered stretch of the Rhine valley and is one of the milder places in Germany. Each spring the cherry trees of the Altstadt draw crowds, and a pastel lawn kurta suits those weeks well. Summers can be humid, so breathable cuts help, and winters are usually damp rather than freezing, which a lined cambric under a coat handles. Students at the University of Bonn can keep it simple with a kurti and jeans.

Bonn questions
Can you make one formal kurta for work?
Yes. One piece is a normal order. Describe where you will wear it, and we agree the fabric, neckline and sleeves with you in writing.
Is there a showroom near the UN campus?
No. We have no premises anywhere in Bonn or Germany. You choose from photos and written descriptions, and the outfit is made in Pakistan and delivered to you.
