Ordering from Germany
The questions customers ask before their first order, answered for your country.
What can I order?
Made-to-measure women’s clothing, cut and stitched to your own measurements: three-piece and two-piece shalwar kameez, kurtas and kameez, co-ords, Eid outfits, casual party wear and Western pieces such as dresses, skirts, tops and trousers. For a German winter that might mean a lined khaddar suit with room for a thermal layer; for the office, a plain kurta with straight trousers.
Can I order just one suit?
Yes. Our minimum order is one suit, made to your agreed measurements and design. There are no free samples, so the fabric and finishing are described in your written quote, and you can send photos and questions before you decide. One suit for Eid, delivered anywhere in Germany, is a normal order.
Can you provide the fabric?
Yes. With Fabric + Stitching, we supply the agreed fabric and make the outfit, so nothing has to be posted from Germany. Tell us the colours, the occasion and whether you need something warm for winter or light for summer, and the fabric is agreed with you in writing before cutting.
Can I send my own fabric?
Yes, subject to fabric suitability and sufficient quantity. This is our Stitching Only service, and sending your fabric from Germany to Pakistan and receiving the finished garment are two separate shipping stages. Please contact us to confirm the fabric, the quantity and the arrangements before you send anything, then post it by a tracked international service and fill in the customs declaration, the Zollinhaltserklärung, accurately.
How do I submit my measurements?
Enter them on the quote form, in centimetres or inches. Centimetres are what a German Maßband shows, and inches are accepted too; just tell us which you used. A German size such as 36 or 38 cannot replace measurements, and it is not the same as a UK size, or even a French size with the same number.
How are the design and fit agreed?
Design details and measurements are agreed with you in writing before anything is cut. Your quote sets out the neckline, sleeves, lengths, trouser style and lining; since nobody measures you or tries the outfit on you in person, it helps to send photos of a kameez you already like and notes such as needing room for a thermal layer in winter.
Where is the clothing made?
Our garments are made in Pakistan and shipped internationally. We have no shop, studio or workroom in Germany; everything is arranged online, and your outfit is cut, stitched and finished in Pakistan before it is shipped to your address.
How are production time and shipping costs confirmed?
Both are confirmed in your written quote. Production time and the cost of shipping to Germany depend on the garments, the service option and the delivery method, so we confirm them for your order instead of publishing a fixed figure. If you are planning for Eid or another date, tell us when you ask for a quote.
Who handles import charges?
We do. Your written quote includes delivery to your address in Germany and any import duties, taxes and customs fees, so there is nothing extra to pay when your parcel arrives. Parcels from outside the EU are cleared by German customs, the Zoll, where import VAT (Einfuhrumsatzsteuer) applies to all imported goods and a temporary flat EU customs duty now applies to low-value parcels, and both are covered in your quote.
How do I request a quote?
Use the Request a Custom Quote form at /quote?country=germany, which opens with Germany already selected. Add your city, the garment, the quantity, the service option, your measurements, design images and notes, and we reply with a written quote; your full delivery address is only needed once the order goes ahead.

Sending fabric from Germany for Stitching Only
Berlin’s market on the Maybachufer in Neukölln has stalls selling fabric by the metre, and an unstitched three-piece ordered online from a Pakistani brand, or brought back in your luggage after a trip home, works just as well. All of it is what our unstitched suit stitching service is for, and our guide to how much fabric a three-piece suit needs helps you check your length first.
Contact us before you post anything. Send daylight photos of every piece (photographing fabric for a quote shows how) so we can confirm the fabric is suitable and that there is enough of it. Once the arrangements are agreed, send the parcel to Pakistan by a tracked international service. Pakistan is outside the EU, so a customs declaration, the Zollinhaltserklärung, goes with it: describe the contents accurately, for example “unstitched cotton suit fabric, three pieces”, and give an honest value. How to post your fabric for stitching covers the packing.
That is the first of two shipping stages; the finished outfit travels to you as a separate shipment, and that is the parcel the Zoll deals with; its delivery and import charges are already included in your quote. If you would rather post nothing at all, choose Fabric + Stitching and we supply the fabric.
Delivery to Germany: the Zoll and EU import charges
Your outfit is shipped from Pakistan to your address in Germany, and production time, the delivery method and the shipping cost are confirmed in your written quote. Because the parcel comes from outside the EU, it is cleared by German customs, the Zoll, and EU import rules apply.
As the European Commission explains, since 1 July 2021 all goods imported into the EU are subject to VAT, which German customs collects as Einfuhrumsatzsteuer; it is paid either through the seller’s registration in the EU’s Import One-Stop Shop (IOSS) or when the parcel is imported. From 1 July 2026 the EU also applies a temporary €3 customs duty for each category of goods on low-value consignments (up to €150) from outside the EU, until 1 July 2028, and the previous €150 duty exemption has been abolished, as the Council of the EU confirmed.
That is what applies to any parcel from outside the EU, and with us it is already included: your quote covers delivery to your address plus any import VAT, customs duty and courier handling fees, so there is nothing extra to pay when the parcel arrives. If a courier ever asks you for payment on delivery, contact us before paying anything. The Europe overview and our guide to ordering from Europe cover the same rules across the EU.
German sizes, Kurzgrößen and the words you might search for
German shops use their own numbered sizes, such as 36, 38 and 40, and they do not line up with UK sizes; a German 38 is not even the same as a French 38. German labels also have separate short and long ranges, Kurzgrößen and Langgrößen, which shows how much height and length vary from one body to the next. A kameez needs exactly that kind of detail, so measure yourself in centimetres with the size guide and our measuring guide, or in inches if that is easier. UK, EU and US dress sizes for a kameez explains why a label is never enough.
In German, clothing made to measure is Maßanfertigung, a dressmaker is a Schneiderin, and having something sewn is nähen lassen, so people often search for pakistanische Kleidung nähen lassen. A kurta is usually sold in German shops as a Tunika, while the full outfit keeps its own name, whether you spell it salwar kameez or shalwar kameez.
Winters, cities and Eid across Germany
German winters are colder than Britain’s or Ireland’s, especially in the east and south, and this is where the heavier Pakistani winter fabrics earn their place: khaddar, karandi and marina, with a lining to keep the wind out and trousers cut with a little ease for a thermal layer. Our winter fabrics guide compares them. Summers are warm and can turn hot, particularly along the Rhine, so a lawn set is worth having too (summer outfits for hot weather).
We have city guides for Berlin, Hamburg, Munich, Cologne, Frankfurt and Stuttgart, and ordering works the same way from a small town anywhere in the country. For Eid, start early and tell us your date, because Stitching Only means your fabric travelling to Pakistan and your outfit travelling to Germany; the Eid outfit timeline helps you plan.
Neighbouring France, the Netherlands and Belgium have their own pages, and how it works walks through every step. When you are ready, request a quote for Germany.

Elsewhere in Europe
Do you have a shop or Schneiderei in Germany?
No. We have no shop, studio, tailor or measuring service anywhere in Germany. Everything is ordered online, made in Pakistan to the measurements you send, and delivered to your address.
I wear a German 38. Can I just give you that size?
Please send measurements instead. German sizes run on their own scale, different from UK and French sizes, and cuts vary between brands, so a size cannot tell us your sleeve length or where a kameez should fall. Measure in centimetres with the size guide and enter the numbers on the quote form.
Can you make a kameez warm enough for a German winter?
Yes. Choose a heavier fabric such as khaddar, karandi or marina, add a lining, and tell us if you wear a thermal layer underneath so the kameez and trousers are cut with enough ease. Everything is agreed with you in writing before cutting.
