Fabric for wind and drizzle
Hamburg’s climate is maritime: milder than southern Germany in winter, but damp, windy and grey for much of the year. Mid-weight cambric and cotton blends handle the damp well, and a lined kameez is useful from autumn well into spring. Hanseatic understatement
Hamburg style is often called Hanseatic: understated, well made and fond of navy, grey and camel rather than bright colour. That suits a kurta in a plain, good-quality fabric with a clean neckline and straight trousers, worn under a trench coat, whether you work in the port, a newsroom or an office by the Binnenalster. Do you have a shop in Hamburg?
No. There is no shop, studio or measuring service in Hamburg or anywhere in Germany. You order online and measure at home, and your outfit is made in Pakistan and delivered to your address.
