Made-to-measure clothing delivered to Stuttgart
Stuttgart sits in a basin ringed by hills, woods and vineyards, and it is known across Germany for engineering and cars. If you want a kameez or kurta cut to your measurements for that working life and those surprisingly hot summers, The Gilded Seam makes it in Pakistan and ships it to your address in Stuttgart. There is no shop or measuring service in the city; everything is agreed online and in writing.

InspirationLocal notes
Ordering from Stuttgart
Sizes, customs rules and sending fabric from Germany: ordering from Germany.
Summer in the Kessel
Locals call the city centre the Kessel, the cauldron, and in summer it lives up to the name: warm air settles in the basin and evenings can stay close. Lawn and linen are the fabrics for those weeks, cut with a little ease so nothing clings; summer outfits for hot weather has ideas. Winters are cold, especially up on the hills, and that is when a lined kameez or khaddar suit comes into its own.
Engineering offices and two universities
Mercedes-Benz, Porsche and Bosch all have their roots in and around Stuttgart, and much of the city works in engineering, where clothes tend to be practical rather than showy. A straight kurta in a plain, washable cotton with cigarette trousers suits long days at a desk or a visit to a plant, and pockets make it more useful still (adding pockets to kurtas). At the University of Stuttgart or the University of Hohenheim, a shorter kurti over jeans or a simple co-ord is easy for lectures.
Unstitched suits, Eid and ordering from Stuttgart
Most people in Stuttgart buy unstitched suits online or bring them back from Pakistan. For Stitching Only, contact us with photos before you post anything so we can confirm the fabric, the quantity and the arrangements; then send it to Pakistan by a tracked service with an accurate customs declaration. The finished outfit comes back to your address as a second, separate shipment. If you would rather send nothing, Fabric + Stitching means we supply the fabric.
For Eid, tell us your date when you request a quote. The quote sets out production time and includes delivery and any import charges, such as import VAT and the EU’s flat customs duty on low-value parcels, so there is nothing extra to pay when your parcel arrives; the Germany page explains the rules. Munich has its own guide.
Two ways to order

- Confirm suitability and quantity before sending
- Minimum order one suit
Is there a shop in Stuttgart where I can see fabrics?
No. We have no shop, studio or showroom in Stuttgart or anywhere else in Germany, and there are no free samples. Send photos of your own fabric, or tell us what you want and we describe the fabric in your written quote.
Can a work kurta have pockets?
Yes. Mention pockets in your notes and they are included in the design agreed with you in writing before cutting.
