Steep streets, sensible hems
Halifax is built on the sides of the Calder valley, and anyone who has walked up from the station knows how steep it gets. A kameez that stops at the knee, with chaak side slits deep enough for a long stride, and straight trousers at ankle length make those hills easier. Our page on side slits explains how deep to go.
Cold, wet Calderdale
Winters here are long, and the valley holds the damp. Khaddar, karandi and marina are worth having from October to March, and a lined cambric suit carries you through spring. If you want one outfit for most of the year, a cambric kameez with full sleeves and a cotton lining is a good compromise; the khaddar guide describes the warmer option.
How a Halifax order works
Use the quote form with your measurements, in centimetres or inches, and photos of either your own fabric or the look you want. If you are sending a suit, we confirm it first and agree how it travels; the UK stitching page explains the two shipments.
Your quote is in pounds sterling and includes shipping to your HX postcode and any import charges, so the parcel arrives with nothing to pay. Payment is made in full before making starts, by bank transfer, Wise or a card payment link.

Is anything made in Halifax?
