A good tailor for shalwar kameez can be hard to find in Australia, and harder still to fit around work, study and a long commute. The Gilded Seam does it differently. You send us your design, a photo you like or one of our designs with your changes, enter your measurements online, and we cut and stitch the outfit in Pakistan and courier it to your door, whether that is in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth or a town far from any of them. There is no shop of ours in Australia, one suit is welcome, and every detail is agreed in writing first.

What can I order?
Made-to-measure women’s clothing: two-piece and three-piece shalwar kameez, kurtas and kameez, co-ords, Eid outfits, casual party wear and Western pieces such as dresses, skirts, tops and trousers. Send us your own design or a reference photo, or start from one of our designs and change it.
Can I order just one suit?
Yes. The minimum order is one suit, and a single piece such as one kurta is welcome too. There are no free samples, so the first thing we send to Australia is your finished outfit. If you would like several pieces, list them on one request and we quote them together.
Can you provide the fabric?
Yes, with Fabric + Stitching. We source the agreed fabric in Pakistan and make the outfit from it, so you post nothing. Photos and descriptions of the fabric come with your quote, and nothing is cut until you are happy with it. We only supply fabric as part of an outfit we are making.
Can I send my own fabric?
Yes, subject to fabric suitability and sufficient quantity. With Stitching Only you send your fabric from Australia to us in Pakistan, and the finished outfit comes back as a second shipment. Send us daylight photos before you post anything, so we can confirm the fabric, that there is enough of it, and how to send it. Describe the contents honestly on the customs form.
How do I submit my measurements?
On the quote form, in centimetres or inches, using one unit throughout. Most people in Australia measure in centimetres, which is fine. Our size guide shows where to put the tape, and a kameez that already sits well on you is a useful extra reference.
How are the design and fit agreed?
In writing, before any cutting. We go through the neckline, sleeves, kameez length, trouser style, lining and any embroidery with you, and check the measurements you sent. The written quote lists every agreed detail so you can check it before you pay.
Where is the clothing made?
In Pakistan. Every outfit is cut, stitched, finished and checked there, then couriered to Australia. We have no shop, studio, tailor or agent anywhere in Australia.
How long does it take, and what does shipping cost?
Making takes 5 to 7 working days, counted from when your quote is approved and paid in full, or with Stitching Only, from when your fabric reaches us. Courier time to Australia is added on top and varies by address, so we do not promise a delivery date. The shipping cost is part of your written quote.
Who handles import charges?
We do. Your written quote includes delivery to your Australian address and any import duties, taxes and customs or courier fees on the parcel, so there is nothing more to pay when it arrives. If anyone asks you for payment on delivery, contact us before paying.
How do I request a quote?
Use the Request a Custom Quote form on this page, with Australia already selected. Add your design or choose one of ours, your city or suburb, your measurements if you have them, and whether you want our fabric or yours. The quote currency is agreed with you when you enquire. Payment is in full and in advance, by bank transfer, Wise or a card payment link.

Fabric, delivery and sizes in Australia
Seasons the other way round
In Australia, summer runs from December to February and winter from June to August, the reverse of Pakistan, where fabric collections are timed for the Northern Hemisphere. So a summer lawn pack bought on a June trip to Pakistan may be just right for your Christmas holidays, and a winter khaddar pack suits July. Order for the season you will wear it in, not the one on the label.
For the long, hot months in most of the country, lawn and cambric breathe and wash easily. In Melbourne, Canberra or Hobart in winter, khaddar, karandi or linen with a lining make more sense. Eid moves about eleven days earlier each year, so check which season it falls in before you choose.
Posting your fabric from Australia
Many people in Australia have unstitched suits bought in Pakistan or ordered from brand websites. With Stitching Only we can make them up. Send photos first; we confirm the fabric is suitable and enough, and agree how it will travel. You then book the courier or post it yourself, list only the fabric on the customs form, describe it honestly, and keep the tracking number.
Sending fabric is a separate journey from the finished parcel, so it adds time. If you would rather post nothing, Fabric + Stitching means we supply the fabric and the outfit reaches you in one delivery.
Delivery and charges
Your outfit is couriered from Pakistan to the address you give us, in a city or a regional town. The written quote includes that delivery and any import duties, taxes and fees at the Australian end, so nothing extra is due at the door. We do not give tax or customs advice, and we have not described Australia’s import rules here because we have not checked them against an official source.
Write the address the way Australia Post would: unit number if there is one, street, suburb, state and four-digit postcode, plus a mobile number. For the first enquiry we only need your city; the full address comes later. Read more about processing and worldwide delivery.

Do you have a tailor or shop in Australia?
No. There is no shop, studio or tailor of ours in Australia. Everything is arranged online or by message, and the outfit is made in Pakistan and couriered to you.
Can I order a winter outfit in June if Pakistan is in summer?
Yes. Tell us it is for an Australian winter. With Fabric + Stitching we suggest a warmer fabric we can source and show you photos with the quote, and we can add a lining. Nothing is cut until you agree.
Which currency is the quote in?
For Australia, the quote currency is agreed with you when you enquire. The written quote shows one total covering the outfit, delivery and any import charges, and it is paid in full before we start.
