Ordering from Austria
The questions customers ask before their first order, answered for your country.
What can I order?
Women’s clothing made to your own measurements: three-piece and two-piece shalwar kameez, kurtas and kameez, co-ords, Eid outfits, casual party wear and Western pieces such as dresses, skirts, tops and trousers. In Austria that might be a lined winter suit for the walk to the U-Bahn, a cotton kurta for a Graz lecture hall, or something dressier for an Eid dinner in Linz.
Can I order just one suit?
Yes. The minimum order is one suit, made to your agreed measurements and design. We do not offer free samples, so photos, your notes and the written quote settle the fabric and finishing before anything is made. One outfit sent to one address in Salzburg is an ordinary order for us.
Can you provide the fabric?
Yes. With Fabric + Stitching we supply the agreed fabric and make the outfit. Say what you need it for, perhaps a warm karandi for a January in Vienna, and we send photos and descriptions of suitable fabric with your quote. You then have nothing to post from Austria.
Can I send my own fabric?
Yes, subject to fabric suitability and sufficient quantity. Our Stitching Only service means two separate shipments: your fabric goes from Austria to Pakistan, then the finished outfit comes back to you. Contact us with photos before you post anything, so we can confirm the fabric, the quantity and how to send it.
How do I submit my measurements?
On the quote form, in centimetres or inches. Most people in Austria measure in centimetres, which is ideal; just keep to one unit. A size from an Austrian label, such as 38 or 40, is not a substitute, because it cannot tell us your sleeve length or where your kameez should end.
How are the design and fit agreed?
In writing, before cutting. We confirm the neckline, sleeves, lengths, trousers, lining and any embroidery with you, check your measurements, and list everything in the written quote. As nobody sees you in person in Austria, a photo of a kameez that already fits you well helps a great deal.
Where is the clothing made?
In Pakistan, where every outfit is cut, stitched, finished and checked before it is shipped. We have no shop, studio or workroom in Vienna or anywhere else in Austria; ordering happens online.
How long does it take, and what does shipping cost?
We make your outfit in 5 to 7 working days, counted from when your quote is approved and paid in full, or with Stitching Only, from when your fabric arrives with us. Shipping to Austria is added after that and depends on the delivery method; its cost is in your written quote along with any import charges. Give us your date if the outfit is for Eid or an event.
Who handles import charges?
We do. Your written quote includes delivery to your Austrian address and any import duties, taxes and customs or courier fees, so there is nothing extra to pay when the parcel arrives. Austria is in the EU, so the EU’s import VAT and its temporary flat customs duty on low-value parcels can apply to your outfit, and both are covered by your quote.
How do I request a quote?
Open the Request a Custom Quote form with Austria selected. Add your city, the garment and quantity, Fabric + Stitching or Stitching Only, your measurements, design images and notes. We reply with a written quote in euros, US dollars or pounds sterling, as you choose, and you pay in full by bank transfer, Wise or a card payment link once you approve it.

EU import charges on a parcel to Austria
Your outfit travels from Pakistan, which is outside the EU, so it is cleared by Austrian customs (the Zoll) on arrival and EU rules apply. Delivery, the method and its cost all appear in your written quote before you approve it.
According to the European Commission, since 1 July 2021 all goods imported into the EU are subject to VAT, settled either through the seller’s registration in the Import One-Stop Shop (IOSS) or when the parcel is imported. From 1 July 2026 the EU also charges a temporary €3 customs duty per tariff line on low-value consignments of up to €150 arriving from outside the EU, until 1 July 2028; the earlier €150 duty exemption was abolished, as the Council of the EU announced. A courier may add its own handling fee for clearing the parcel.
With us, all of that sits inside the quote: delivery to your address plus any import VAT, EU duty and courier handling fees, so nothing is collected at your door. If a courier ever asks you to pay, contact us before paying anything. The Europe overview and ordering from Europe cover the same rules across the EU.
Sending your fabric from Austria
If you already own an unstitched suit, perhaps brought back from Pakistan or ordered online, Stitching Only turns it into a finished outfit cut to your measurements. Photograph every piece in daylight and send the photos to us first; we check the fabric suits your design and that there is enough, then agree how it should be sent.
Post it to Pakistan by a tracked international service, describe it plainly on the customs form, for example “unstitched lawn suit, three pieces”, give a true value and keep the tracking number. That is stage one. Stage two is the finished outfit coming back to Austria, which is the parcel our quote covers for delivery and import charges. Prefer not to post anything? Choose Fabric + Stitching.
Labels, units and the German words for it
Austrian shops use the continental size numbers you also see in Germany, so a 38 here is a different number from a UK size, and neither is a measurement. We work only from your own figures: use the size guide and measuring yourself without help if nobody is around to hold the tape. In German, made to measure is nach Maß or maßgeschneidert, and a dressmaker is a Schneiderin; the outfit itself is still a kameez, trousers and dupatta.
From the Danube to the Alps
Austrian winters are properly cold, with snow in the mountains and raw, windy days in the Danube cities, so a lined kameez in khaddar or marina, roomy enough for a warm layer, is worth having. Summers can be hot in Vienna and the east, which is when lawn earns its keep.
Read our guides to Vienna, Graz, Linz and Salzburg; ordering works the same way in Innsbruck, Klagenfurt or anywhere else. Neighbouring Germany and Switzerland have pages too, and you can request a quote for Austria whenever you are ready.
