Ordering from Finland
The questions customers ask before their first order, answered for your country.
What can I order?
Women’s clothing made to your measurements: two-piece and three-piece shalwar kameez, kurtas and kameez, co-ords, Eid outfits, casual party wear, and Western pieces such as dresses, skirts, tops and trousers. You can send your own design or customise one of ours. In Finland many customers ask for a lined suit in khaddar or marina for the cold months and a plain cotton kurta for the office, where dressing is relaxed and practical.
Can I order just one suit?
Yes. The minimum order is one suit, cut to the measurements and design you approve. We do not send free samples; instead you receive photos and a description of the fabric with your written quote. A single winter outfit or one Eid suit shipped to one Finnish address is a normal order for us.
Can you provide the fabric?
Yes, as part of Fabric + Stitching: we source the agreed fabric and make the outfit from it. Describe the weight and colour you are after, perhaps a dense khaddar for January or a breathable lawn for July, and the fabric is set out in your quote. Nothing has to leave Finland, and the only parcel is your finished outfit.
Can I send my own fabric?
Yes, subject to fabric suitability and sufficient quantity. With Stitching Only you post your fabric from Finland to us in Pakistan, and the finished outfit comes back in a separate shipment. Please send photos and wait for us to confirm the fabric, the quantity and how to send it before you post anything, and complete the customs declaration honestly because the parcel leaves the EU.
How do I submit my measurements?
Type them into the quote form in centimetres or inches. Most tape measures in Finland are marked in centimetres, which suits us well, but inches are fine if you keep to one unit. A Finnish label size such as 38 or 40 follows the continental European scale and cannot tell us your sleeve or kameez length, so your own measurements always come first.
How are the design and fit agreed?
Everything is confirmed in writing before cutting begins. Since there are no try-ons or appointments in Finland, it helps to send a photo of a kameez that already fits you and to say whether you want room for a merino or thermal layer underneath. Neckline, sleeves, lengths, trousers, lining and embroidery are all listed in your quote.
Where is the clothing made?
In Pakistan, where each outfit is cut, stitched, finished and checked before it is shipped to Finland. We have no studio, shop or workroom in Helsinki or anywhere else in the country; ordering happens online and the outfit is delivered to your door.
How long does it take, and what does shipping cost?
Making takes 5 to 7 working days, counted from when your quote is approved and paid in full, or for Stitching Only, from when your fabric arrives with us. Shipping to Finland is added on top and varies with the delivery method, and its cost is part of your written quote. If you need the outfit for Eid, a wedding you are a guest at or a juhannus gathering, give us the date when you enquire.
Who handles import charges?
We do. Your quote includes delivery to your Finnish address and any import duties, taxes and customs or courier fees, so nothing is left to pay when the parcel arrives. Finland is in the EU, which charges VAT on all imported goods and now adds a temporary flat customs duty on low-value parcels from outside the EU; whatever applies when Finnish Customs clears your parcel is already in the total.
How do I request a quote?
Open the Request a Custom Quote form from this page and Finland is already filled in. Add your city, the garment, quantity, service option, measurements, design pictures and any notes, and we reply with a written quote in euros, US dollars or pounds sterling, as you choose. Your full address is needed only once the order goes ahead.

Posting your fabric from Finland for Stitching Only
Some customers in Finland have an unstitched three-piece ordered online from a Pakistani brand, or one packed in a suitcase after a visit home; others buy wool blends or cotton by the metre locally. Either can be turned into a finished outfit with unstitched suit stitching, provided there is enough fabric for the design you want. Our guide on how much fabric a three-piece suit needs lets you check before you commit.
Before anything goes in the post, photograph each piece by a window in daylight. Winter light in Finland is short and low, so a clear late-morning slot gives the most honest colour, and photographing fabric for a quote has more tips. Once we have confirmed the fabric, the quantity and the arrangements, send it to Pakistan with a tracked international service. The parcel leaves the EU, so the customs form needs a plain, accurate description such as “unstitched cotton suit fabric, three pieces”, and how to post your fabric for stitching covers the rest.
That outbound parcel is the first of two shipping stages and is arranged by you. The second, your finished outfit, is shipped to Finland with its delivery and import charges already in your quote. To avoid the first stage altogether, choose Fabric + Stitching.
EU import charges and Finnish Customs
Because your outfit is made outside the EU, it enters Finland as an import. According to the European Commission’s guidance on low-value consignments, all goods imported into the EU have been subject to VAT since 1 July 2021, collected through the seller’s IOSS registration or else at import. On top of that, from 1 July 2026 until 1 July 2028 the EU charges a temporary customs duty of €3 per category of goods on low-value consignments of up to €150 from outside the EU, and the earlier €150 duty exemption has gone, as the European Commission and the Council of the EU set out.
In Finland, imports are cleared by Finnish Customs, Tulli, and VAT is called arvonlisävero, usually shortened to ALV. You do not need to deal with either: the ALV, the flat EU duty and any courier handling fee are included in your written quote, so you have nothing to pay on the doorstep. If a carrier ever asks you for money, contact us before paying. For other destinations see the Europe overview and our guide to ordering from Europe.
Centimetres, continental sizes and a few Finnish words
Finnish shops label clothes on the continental European scale, so a 38 is not a UK 38 or even the same 38 from one brand to the next. What we actually need are lengths and widths: where your kameez should stop, how long your sleeves are, and how much room you want over a warm layer. Measure in centimetres with the size guide and our step-by-step measuring guide, and see UK, EU and US dress sizes for a kameez for why a label size falls short.
If you search in Finnish, made-to-measure clothing is mittatilausvaatteet, a tailor is a räätäli and a seamstress an ompelija. Salwar kameez, shalwar kameez and Pakistani suit all mean the same outfit: a kameez, trousers and usually a dupatta, all explained on our custom stitching page.
Long winters, warm interiors and the light summer
From November to March, Finland is cold, often snowy and dark for much of the day, while homes, offices and lecture halls stay warm. The trick is a kameez that is comfortable indoors and layers well under a padded coat: a lined cambric or khaddar for everyday, with karandi or marina for the coldest weeks. Ask for slim full sleeves and straight or cigarette trousers that sit neatly inside winter boots. Our guide to whether a kameez needs lining helps you decide.
Eid al-Fitr moves about eleven days earlier each year and lands in late winter for the next few years, so a festive outfit here usually needs warmth too, perhaps a velvet kameez with a shawl. Summer is short but bright, and by juhannus, Finnish midsummer, the nights barely darken; a lawn suit or a linen co-ord covers it.
Ordering works the same anywhere in the country, from Helsinki, Espoo and Tampere to Turku and Oulu. When you are ready, request a quote.

FAQ
More questions from Finland
Measuring guide: how to measure. The whole process: how ordering works.
Is there a shop or tailor of yours in Helsinki?
No. We have no shop, studio, tailor or measuring service in Helsinki or elsewhere in Finland. You order online, we make the outfit in Pakistan to the measurements you send, and it is delivered to your address.
Can my quote be in euros?
Yes. Customers in Finland choose euros, US dollars or pounds sterling, and the written quote is issued in that currency. Payment is in full, in advance, by bank transfer, Wise or a card payment link.
What should I wear under a kameez in a Finnish winter?
A thin merino or thermal layer works well, so tell us you plan to wear one and we allow a little room in the body and sleeves. A lining in the kameez adds warmth without bulk, and warm trousers in khaddar or marina help on the walk to the bus or tram.
